Adam B Wow Adam, I'm glad to hear that! :) I'm having a lot of difficulty uploading for some reason. This upload took 327 minutes (if memory serves me right). I am no longer able to annotate as much as I want to (I always miss things or forget to mention things and the annotations clear a lot of that up; I can't expand the annotation windows so it is limiting me to just a sentence). The annotation issues are a KZbin glitch (I tried on another laptop I have), but the upload times are ridiculously long. I'm glad everyone is still watching :) I used to be able to upload using my camera's program/browser reasonably quickly (an hour or less), but they always fail to upload due to an error at about 92% so I have to save them to my PC and upload using the KZbin uploader.

easy self replacement I did a few already after inquiring with motorola jumping through a few hoops. best is a reflow station however I did a couple by hand and it took steady hands. if your not good at micro electronics I wouldn't advise doing the repair yourself. and it is only soldered on the outer side not inside. according to motorola it is a normal wear and tear point on what they consider the xts 15/2500 line now as low tier and not mid tier anymore.

having worked corrections, i can 100% verify your words LOL.

by any chance do you know if the SMA connector needs any type of heat sink compound between the sma and rf board or is it just soldered on? obviously after the repair it would need to be aligned and such.

@ snarlingrabiddog by any chance do you know the reccomended large heat sink compound for the components inside the xts mainly the typical SMA connector issue. have a spare sma coming in and wondered that if it took any particular heat sink.

I found it funny about the fat man syndrome. slight belly and when I'm off I use a personal one to monitor other talkgroups. looks like the fat man syndrome got my 2500. but I agree I prefer the apx and 5000 over the 2500 due to the reasons you state. not many in the forums have mentioned it yet. if you'd like I could snap some pictures of the sma pretty much fully off for a future video if you wanna use it.

Very quick question if I may. I was googling xts 1500 v 2500 For a client who wanted a radio pouch built....I believe they are the same housing but can't seem to find proof of that. Are the 1500 and 2500 dimensionally identical? Thanks for your time..

Sorry for the late reply. Yes they are the same housing. The 1500 is the 2500 with only the screen.
