Its funny I'm doing the same thing with motors. Ive got 36 crates trying to get a tonne and sell at $1 kg. My milk crates are a bit more full than yours and average 40 kg. My yard complains about the metal fly wheel on the tread mill motors so I take them off but they accept whole ferris wheel washing machine motors with the outer magnet cover thats plasric (central bolt). after removal it all just snaps back in and is held together by the magnets. Magnet recycling is an upcoming good money spinner. a few places are starting to get on board. to recover the rare earth metals like neodymium

Hey bro. I just noticed resteel has new owners or management. Have they sold out to Scrooge McDuck? Do you have an ABN just for scrap? I honestly haven't taken in much since the new rules. So I have collected & amassed a huge savings account of scrap to cash in. I have decent Bulk amounts all sorted. Would it be worth applying for a ABN before cashing in my scrap. (Not Cash but $$$ them extra added numbers on my screen ) or just estimate daily limit. with no abn. Is it $300 a day still?
@PolyProphet2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are new owners but some workers still there. Yes I use ABN. Resteel won’t buy unless you have one. There’s not many yards left that buy with cash, but they are around if you know 😁

@@PolyProphet Oh yeah, on the pvc copper wire/cables...yeah I gotcha. Its funny to see you killing it on the electric motors. You pay for 2 storage units to keep scrap in? How does that make money? Or maybe you own the storage facility...Every time I see someone cashing in whole motors and transformers I cringe at how much more they could have gotten by seperating the wire. But as you said- time, which I have lots of.

Looks like well over 100 pounds went into the trash. Spend just one day scrapping out the copper and you would make 10 times what you made on this one load. At my yard motors are around 18 to 25 cents per pound and number 2 copper is almost $3 per pound. Almost 15 times the weight of just motors. But to each is own i guess.

This was filmed before I went to Bali and needed some money fast. I’m giving transformers a go in the new year 🙂
@horacepinker65782 жыл бұрын
You lose money on stripping pvc wire. And you have to get rid of the insulation. Half of the transformers and motors contain aluminium. If you send them in whole its a matter of dont ask dont tell :P The motors pay about 10% copper content most of the motors I pull apart have only 8% but you lose out on aluminium and steel. Feel free to pick 10 random motors weigh them estimate the price based on that weight then pull them appart timing how long it takes you then record the weights of copper aluminium and steel. estimate the value based on same day prices and tell us your profit per hour spent doing this
