Indeed! Especially the R, it's one of the best looks of X308 XJ

This was the car that got an 8-year old me to really love cars--so beautiful, so luxurious. Here I sit 26 years later and though my feelings about cars and the role they play especially in the U.S. is a lot more complicated, but man, this is still such a lovely thing to look at.

Had a black 98 XJR. What an exquisitely beautiful piece of junk. Every peice of plastic in that car, including the wire looms, would self destruct when you touched them. After super glueing my dash vents back together multiple times, I just put them in one position & never touched them again. I got rid of it when the transmission wouldn't down shift when getting off the highway. I would have to come to a complete stop, shut off the car for 5-10 seconds then restart it to get it back into first gear. Probably the most beautiful car ive ever owned. But not much better built than my 1980 AMC Concord.

And when did you buy it is the question?
@vetteluvnh Жыл бұрын
@nwaeze1 bought it in 2019. Only had 102k on it. 2 previous owners. Sold it a yr later. In 2020 bought a 1998 Camaro SS w/120k. Car is all original, also 2 previous owners. Only thing that's failed on this car in the last 3 yrs is a broken seat belt guide & a blown factory door speaker. Still can't believe how reliable & durable my redneck Camaro had been compared with the same year Jaguar XJR.

The first year model of any car, especially luxury European cars is generally full of gremlins. You should know that as a car guy...

I never understood why they randomly left the 1/4 Mile time out of some of the reviews.

I'm looking to buy a 98 XJ8. I've heard all of the horror stories about jaguars reliability. It's got 72k miles but it is 26 years old. What are your thoughts?
@1972Fury Жыл бұрын
See if they have any service records. Main thing is to make sure the timing chain tensioners have been replaced. Otherwise if normal service has been kept up to date you will absolutely enjoy the ol cat @@smoke4life182

Oh get over that hump!! They’ve all had that sorted by now. Same as the water pump issue. Every manufacturer’s new model has issues down to cost cutting. It’s not exclusive to Jag. Unless you can tell me different?
