This Sonata along with the next generation really turned Hyundai’s sales around.

I had a 2009 Sonata V6 w/sunroof. Loved that car! Unfortunately, a Lexus RX 350 totaled it, though the Sonata was driven away (and driven for five days), while the Lexus had to be taken out on a flatbed.

Had a 2006 V6 Sonata owned it for years sold it with 220k miles and never even burned a drop of oil it was BULLETPROOF reliable. In certain areas you can tell it was very cheaply made but overall this was Hyundai’s first world class quality sedan.

Almost 20 years later and this car still looks great 😌

I currently own a 2.4 model in South Korea. It’s very low maintenance, reliable, beautiful. The only sad thing about the Korean domestic version is that it doesn’t have those folded back seats like American ones.

Peak Sonata, then unreliablity returned after this generation.

Exactly. This was the best Sonata ever. Even the 2001-05 Sonata was reliable and well made. After 2011 it might have had a stunning design and excellent fit and finish but reliability declined and price increased. I’m not a fan of 2010scand 2020s Hyundais but I loved the 2000s Hyundais.

I love that this is for a new review. This tells myself nothing about reliability for a old used car in 2024. Video made in 2023 but from a new commercial 🤣 dang i should do this, repost old videos!

This car was a bargain but it was not "cheap" like many Hyundai's before it had been. It was, to be sure, conventional in styling and features and didn't break any new ground but was well put together

I love these

They're still driving around. Just you need to do a timing belt, and an older car doesn't really worth to do it.
@JohnnyTyrone778 ай бұрын
V6 has a timing chain..No need to change as long as you change oil every 3,000-5,000 miles

2.4 also has chain.

There’s no timing belt on these

It makes zero sense to me why the EPA would classify this as a full-size car when it is in the mid-size class. Also this car came out in 2004 in Korea and 2006 for the US market.

Especially when they were selling the bigger Azera at about the same time.
