Did a track day with my 02 S2000 back in 2007. Had an absolute blast - one of my favourite driving experiences ever. Still have the car!

The fact that the Honda S2000 earned Best Performance Car from Motorweek over the Porsche Boxster, Nissan 350Z, Toyota MR2, and Mazda Miata is very impressive. I really wish there were more well engineered affordable reliable sports cars like this. The ending to this review was just perfect 😂

Wow, these cars have aged so well! I can't imagine ever giving up my '00 GPW. It's been such a great car (and investment). Aside from the lack of modern tech (which I actually like about it), you just can't tell it's about to turn 20 (until watching a vid like this) .

They’re like one of the few manufacturers that still offer a good selection of manual transmissions on a good variety of sportier cars, but dang. What I would do for a new rwd sport coupe like the s2000 from them right now, this car was a marvel of engineering

@@Nickoboss29 civic si, civic type r, it is a bummer they don’t offer the manual on the accord sport anymore. I will say the si and the type r are too heavy and complicated now, and the looks don’t really do it for me. Hopefully the 11th gen si and type r are alright but idk we’ll see

I bought mine new in 2002 and still own it. I own too many cars so it only has seven thousand miles. That's an average of just over 400 miles per year. It's always been garaged, never even driven in the rain. Not a mark on it, looks exactly like the day I bought it. I either need to start driving it or hold out a little longer and see what I can get for it as it has to be one of the lowest mileage ones in the country. If someone wanted a new one mine is as close as you are going to get to new. Sebring Silver, 9000 RPM redline. Fun car.

Sigh... if only it was in New Formula Red! I'd cut you a check right now! lol Still, there really isn't a color that looks "bad" on an S2000 and Sebring Silver is no exception. 2002 is a great M.Y. to have, too, as you got the glass rear window, the (slightly) upgraded sound system, the darker wheels and other minor improvements. I would hang onto it until you're absolutely certain that you just don't want it anymore. Prices on these are rocketing upwards and the longer you hold onto it, the better it'll work out for you in the end.
@fastdude2002
@fastdude2002 4 жыл бұрын
Yes I still have it and I am going to hang on to it longer to see what prices do. It’s a California car so it’s never seen harsh weather. Like I said earlier I’ve never even driven it in the rain, always garaged out of the sun. The sad thing is I really like driving it but I am afraid to enjoy it out on the road as it might get rear ended or damaged and I don’t want to add the miles. Someday someone is going to get a sweet S2000.......by the way I waited a model year on purpose as I heard the hard window was coming out. I hate the plastic windows that yellow and crack.
@drivedb7
@drivedb7 4 жыл бұрын
@@fastdude2002 -- Waiting ended up being the right move in my opinion. The glass window should have been standard from the get-go, but at least Honda realized their mistake and corrected the error from '02 onwards. The plastic rear window is about the only thing that turns me off of the 2000-2001 S2Ks, although, by now, many of course have had their tops replaced and that's no longer an issue. I'd say as long as you keep the car under 9,999 miles, there's not much harm in driving it like you have been. It's taken 18 years to get it to 7,000 miles. At this rate, it'll be about another 7-8 years before you hit 10k. It's still your car. Might as well enjoy it! I know I said earlier that I'm really looking for a red one (and I am), but if you ever get the itch to sell.... I do love clean California cars!

I had an 02 back in 02. It was truly a special car and one I wish I kept. Hitting the start button was the automotive equivalent of Michelangelo's "Spark of Life". The car was alive and one of the few Japanese cars at the time that had a soul. Kids, if you find a clean one out there for sale, snatch it up.

I love my NFR AP1, ill never ever get rid of it. It will go to my son when i kick the bucket with strict rules in my will that it cannot be sold unless the entire family agrees. Im that hardcore, i want it to stay in the family for a hundred years! Mine is about to go into he garage for storage after i just got my new soft top installed and some minor winter repairs. In the spring its new seats, coil overs, new wheels and who knows whats next. Its the most amazing car i have ever owned and driven and the best money i ever spent!

Thank you for review! I love S2000 and I hope one day I will buy it)) But I don't understand why Honda many-many years don't make cool cars (S2000 included). I thing that the best time for next generation S2000 was 2016-2018. For what the Honda marketing mens and CEOs take a money? Maybe they are working for BMW and Porsche?...

Ya gotta drive it like ya stole it! That's not original. I stole that, too. I always really liked the way they built their cars, particularly during their "golden era" of the 80's and 90's. Not really quick (slow by today's standards) but light, tossable and refined enough to show they knew how to build cars. It really can be "more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow"! Smiles AND keep my license? I'm in!

The dash is sweet. Everything faces the driver. No other roadster comes close on driver centric design. You'd have to be pretty dense to think it's ugly.
