I don't think MW has ever had a badly rated car. They always find the positive in every car.
@bennybop5387
@bennybop5387 3 жыл бұрын
Cuz every car has positives about them:) we may not b able to appreciate them when new especially when comparing wht it doesn't have in comparison to another for the price, thus the beauty of this show...all the cars have aged and we all have stories and nostalgia/experience tht make the most miniscule attributes standout, good and bad... I think...

That's why I love MW and hate shows like Top Gear. I love cars and really enjoy shows that do as well, no matter how cheap the cars they are testing are.

@@Doobie1975 when I was 16 my uncle owned a Chevrolet dealer. He told me that I could pick any car off his lot as long as it had been on the lot 6 or more months. There was 2 choices. A Chevrolet Citation and a Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon. I chose the wagon. He loaned it to me as a demo and I kept it for 6 months and switched for a Monte Carlo with a 5.0 V8. When i brought back the Monte Carlo after 6 months, he literally just sold the Citation a year later. He said he lost a lot of money selling that car.

As I go through an old album photo, I happened to see a picture dated September 96. My grandfather (by marriage to my grand-mother from my mother’s side) had one. I was born in January 2001 and it’s one of the few things I don’t remember before my grand-father passed away on 2006. I was told he sold the car around of before I was born, that must be why I have recollection at all of a red car. Lots of memories came back at me, flooding. Thak you for the review.

I remember my babysitter when I was 8-9ish had a Hyundai coupe, 99% certain it was this model with a sunroof. It was a new car, or maybe one that was bought used at 1-2 years old with under 20k miles. I remember it being a manual, sunroof that leaked, and it left us stranded a couple times when it refused to start. We ended up riding in her father's 1992ish Cadillac Sedan Deville, it was Silver/grey two tone with grey leather, slick top, alloy wheels, that car kind of left an impression on me, it was fucking nice sitting in the back seat. The junky Hyundai, well I didn't recall which model it was until this video almost 30 years later. And even then I'm not sure that was the exact Hyundai model, other than that her car was black. After all that nonsense they traded the Hyundai in for a turquoise Mazda MX-3.

I had a 1994 Scoupe. Was easy to maintain and never left me stranded. I never took it to a shop, in fact. I changed the oil and filter myself every 3-4k miles and changed the air filter and spark plugs yearly. On the highway, it was happy at 70mph and got at least 30 mpg. I installed a nice Sony CD player and speakers to replace the original AM/FM cassette deck. Only needed rear shocks, a timing belt/water pump kit replacement (service interval) and throttle position sensor during my ownership. Never leaked or smoked. I washed it every week, and the clearcoat started to wear. Great car for a daily driver. Sold this car after 10 years with 160k miles on it.

Modern Hyundai cars are actually really well built now with good quality materials. Reliability is a mixed bag. I would say they're on par with or better than what Chevy and Ford offer for competition. I bought a 2018 Elantra and I LOVE the car, but it's not been faultless. I think the fire hazard you're talking about refers to an issue with 2.4L equipped Hyundai and Kia vehicles. Fuel lines weren't being connected properly after engine replacement at the dealerships due to a recall, causing fuel to come in contact with hot engine components and ignite. Definitely scary and dangerous, but not an issue across the Hyundai line. Just one specific engine. Even Toyota, regarded highly for reliability, is having problems with badly performing 8-spd automatics, CVTs and fuel pump failures.

@@blakelyfantastic Yikes. I hadn't yet heard of the 2.0L being affected by the same recall, but it's possible. I know it also affects certain years of the Elantra prior to 2017. Today, Hyundai is a force to be reckoned with. Back in 1991...........not so much, but that year's new Scoupe tried to prove that they were capable of building more than cheap economy cars. Underneath that sexy bodywork, though, it was STILL a cheap economy car.

I'd love to see a review of the first or 2nd Cavalier Z24. I loved those. Had a great exhaust growl! I made the! Mistake of getting the 3rd gen with the quad 4. Not a bad engine but abysmal build quality.

The first two generations of Z24's were some of my favorite shit boxes! The 2.8/3.1 with a manual trans felt much quicker than the hp numbers would lead you to believe. I'll still see some 2nd gens every now and then but have not seen a first gen in over 15yrs.

The 2.2L (N/A) was extremely reliable! I owned one for 16 years/205K miles with ZERO engine or transmission problems! Had to get rid of it due to MAJOR BODY ROT because of the WELL salted roads (have to keep the IDIOT drivers safe) up here in MN/WI!

@@TheOzthewiz nice. My quad 4 manual was great. The overall build quality was beyond horrible. The door panels wouldn't stay fastened. The ac vents would pop out when you closed the doors. Ac compressor went out. Clutch master cylinder went out. Gas tank was replaced twice. All within the 1st year. It got great reviews so I bought the first year first run. Probably where I went wrong. 🤣

I wanted that thing so bad it was yellow with a sunroof. The just a few years later i started seeing them broke down all over the place and then they dried up havent seen one now in years

I always thought that these looked like a botched body shop reconstruction of a wrecked Excel. I remember seeing a few of these around, colors were strange but typical for Korean cars. (Tomato soup red, a yellow like that found on traffic signs, this car's teal blue, and very rarely...white with all having contrasting color striping down low on the sides.)

With the low power on this 1991 Hyundai S Coupe, they should have had a 16-valve dual overhead cam with a 1.5 L inline 4, that can probably top a 120 HP. It could be up there with the 1991 Geo Storm GSi 125 HP 1.6 L inline 4 dual overhead cam. Overall this Hyundai was a cool car in the 90s.

It could have almost been a thing, the second gen scoupe had the same engine as the first gen accent/excel X3, which had a twin cam head on the same block in the second gen. The first gen scoupe had basically a lancer 4G15 and there wer5e a good few 4G63 and 4G63T swaps back in the 90's and early 2000's. Shame they never did that config from factory
