Im starting to see these quite often. I wanted to get one myself but out of my price range. Love the Black Label Editions and that sound system is freaking bad ass for sure. I just bought a 2016 MKZ though so will have to wait until next time. Rooting for you Lincoln...

"Whereas many luxury brands are currently striving for a more performance-oriented mantra, Lincoln continues to be a brand that wants to sell luxury for luxury's sake yet remain competent on the road." And that's exactly where Mercury should have been by now so that Ford could be moving Lincoln further up-market to compete with the true luxury-sport brands. This is what Ford gets by buying luxury via Jag/Aston/Volvo while letting its own two luxury brands languish. And now those other brands are gone, Mercury became unsalvageable, and Lincoln is stuck trying to figure out if it wants to be what Mercury should have been or a true Cadillac competitor.

I have driven the MKX as loaners when my MKC is in for oil changes and love it along with my MKC. The seats are comfortable in both and have never had issues along with shifts. The style is what I love about it and always turns heads on the road. I have had many cars in my lifetime and always go back to Lincolns for the ride and comfort. So don't hate on it. Not everyone wants that hard and rough sporty ride like many other luxury cars out there. Even the Cadillacs can't compete with Lincolns comfort driving down the road.

Just bought one after driving an 04 Honda accord for about 7 years. (267,000 miles and still going) I’m interested to see how it holds up on the reliability front as my daily driver. It’s a 2016 Lincoln MKX with 3.7 engine AWD. I’m not too keen on the paddle shifters because I don’t think I’ll be racing anytime soon. Lol but the cabin is quieter than any other vehicle I’ve ever driven and smooth and comfortable to road trips.

Great car, great review!!! Why don't you sell it in Europe???
@jamesp5048 жыл бұрын
Because Europeans expect quality, and Lincoln is cheap. To export it, it would raise its price, it'd be outclassed easily.
@DawidAugust8 жыл бұрын
+Passthedutch I would not agree. On one hand I think that Europeans are somewhat condamned in a premium class to buy only very expensive german cars. On another hand I would add that as the general market goes premium in Europe the consumers shall be having more choice in the segment, notably with offerings of the premium brands which are at presen being sold in the US (Lincoln, Acura etc.). Quite lately Nissan introduced on a bigger scale its Infiniti brand to Europe and has had a big success. Unfortunately Europe is under a heck of protecionism, especially non-tariff barriers to other than the European brands. For example a memo leaked form the European Commission that this European "diesel mania" was created on purpose to protect this market for the German and French cars. Thankfully the US EPA showed what the integrity of the big European car makers and the diesiel promotion was about...
@weedmastersr8 жыл бұрын
+DawidAugust Because Europeans only buy diesel cars and Ford doesn't have a good premium diesel that would fit this amazing car.

Test drove a similarly equipped MKX. It is a beautifully finished vehicle and the wheels look great against the ruby metallic paint. The reviewer is right about the car acting strange when you mash the throttle. It lurches and hesitates before it decides what to do. After that experience I took this car off my list. AT $50k + you shouldn't have this kind of acceleration.
@brucec436 жыл бұрын
1. Car reviewers get cars that are passed around to various media outlets. 2. Modern transmissions "learn" the behavior of the driver 3. With dozens of different drivers, all slamming on the accelerator to see how fast it can go, then letting off the throttle abrubtly, over and over, to test accel and braking, the cars can get "schizophrenic". 4. They also are brand new cars, and it takes time for the transmission and computer to settle in and work their best. 5. We have a Volvo S60 R design with the old 6 speed. Reviews knocked it a little for that. But after 3 1/2 years it has a much smoother and responsive transmission response than our BMW X5 with its hailed 8 speed. The BMW hesitates to downshift where the Volvo snaps them off. 6. 2016 early models will not have the refinements to programming of later years. It didnt' even have Synch III! Our cars have both had multiple flashes of the computer systems at regular services and this is partly why they perform better. Wait a model year and these small issues usually go away.

It's an overpriced Ford Edge, and it's still plasticky and cheap inside. Ford is still stuck in the 90's it seems. At least GM learned and cut back on platform sharing a bit. New Buicks are imported from Germany, and Cadillac uses unique bits for some cars. Lincoln is still basically rebadging Fords and charging for a "premium" car.... Pathetic.

Hey Passthedouche, I drive a $70,000 BMW X5 I wrote a check for. I can have anything in the class I want. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. These are fast, decent handling, quiet, smooth riding, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed cars with awesome sound systems and even seats that massage the driver, that, in the moderate trim levels, are $40-$50K, significantly less than the competition. They have poor resale in comparison, so buy a 1 year old used one for $32-42K if you're limited in funds. If anything the grille could be criticized. But an Audi SQ5 with this level of equipment would be about $60,000, which is $10-$20K more than the Lincoln depending on specific options. And it's smaller, louder, and lacks the front seat storage areas of a domestic car. Sure, Lincoln could build a ground-up version, and it would cost $10,000 more. Then they would sell zero units.

Do you own and drive one. Probably not. There is a huge difference between them in quality materials. They may share underpinnings, but they are tuned much differently. No body panels are shared. Lexus does the same thing with Toyota and no one mentions it.
