COL DE SOMMEILLER OFF-ROAD // FULL LENGTH ONBOARD // KTM 1290 Super Adventure S

Get an idea of what it is like to ride the full length of Col de Sommeiller off-road track in the West Alps. This is one of the highest off-road routes in the Alps and will take you up to almost 3,000 meters. It offers spectacular views and rates a 4 out 5
for its difficulty level (SG4 rating on the Denzel scale).
The road is challenging. Full of hairpins, the road is winding, in some places only wide enough for one vehicle, and in many places bordered by a drop of hundreds of meters (many hundreds of feet) unprotected by guardrails. The pass is named after Germain Sommellier, the chief engineer of the construction of the 13.7 km Fréjus railway tunnel under the Alps (opened in 1871) which starts exactly at the beginning of this climb.
