Thanks for sharing your experience. I do a lot of adventure riding in South African and Namibia and there is always a mix of lots of tar to get places and wonderful gravel roads and fairly extreme tracks. I have been using a Motoz Tractionator GPS on my KTM950S. I was using a Metzeler Karoo 3 on front. It was a very good combo for virtually everything. They did well on all types of dirt and the tar riding, & was superb even at speeds around 180kmh. I changed the front to a Continental TKC 80 as I was going to do trip in Namibia that entailed sections of bad sand, where I found the Karoo 3 front tyre use to wash a bit too much for my liking. The TKC80 was scary at first on tar, showing an instability above 160km when it was new, but got more stable when it wore in, but not as good as the Karoo 3 front at speed on tar. On gravel and sand the combo of the Tractionator GPS and TKC 80 was wonderful. The GPS can spin easily if pushed (much more than the Tractionator Adventure which my brother has on his KTM 1190), but the compromise that the GPS has given me has been good. Having the TKC 80 on front has given me huge confidence on dirt and especially the ability to rely on our front brake on dirt. I have no ABS so everything is done with great sensitivity. Going down steep descents , the GPS has a tendency to lock up too quickly, but if you run them softer they are better. This is where the Tractionator Adventure would be better. Great tyre combo's. I have 10 000km left on the GPS and its about done. Will be doing another trip of about 800km and then I think there will be minimal center tread left (below 1mm) Would replace right now with the same tyre - Motoz Tractionator GPS, but there is no stock left in South Africa at this time (150/70 - 18) - Not impressed with the importers in this regard. Hope my feedback helps.

Wise application sir, well done. I’ve done the MotoZ GPS on the rear and the MotoZ Dual Venture tubeless front tire on my Norden 901 for the very same reason as you 👍 Many need to be aware of this thought process 😉

I mixed matched my Motoz Tractionator Adventure in the rear, and a Michelin Anakee Wild in the front. Some riders on the trails see my tire combo and look at me like I’m sleeping with my sister, but I find it’s a great traction combo. The Michelin is a radial and behaves excellent on all surfaces. The Motoz is a beast and I can dig trenches all day long. The road noise is there of course, but not loud enough where I can’t use my iTunes on my Bluetooth helmet to drown out the drone.

Brilliant review I am on my third set of MOTOZ GPS Tractionators and I love them, I was thinking of the MOTOZ Adventure on the front as you have done on your review so my next set that’s what I will do. I am in Australia so lots of gravel and sand. Thanks for a great review

Nice review. Fitted a Tactionator GPS front on 1250GS and went for 150kms ride with about 50/50 sealed/unsealed. After a really worrying and somewhat scary start (mould release extremely slippery), i am impressed in both unsealed & sealed road riding but, noisy & lumpy. Strangely, move off the center of the tyre a bit and they go smoother & quiet. The tyre has great bump absorption and makes rough surface seem smoother, tracks and corners great on loose stoned hard packed base unsealed roads and has great edge grip on sealed roads. About the go on a 3000 km trip to some alpine roads (all sealed as the other bikes going are all road bikes), and while i think the tyres will handle the sealed road corners OK, not sure whether i can put up with the noise, the lumpy ride and vibes into the handlebars as it will be a 1000 km grind there & back to get to the good riding roads. Maybe (hopefully) the noise & vibes may reduce as the kms increase and the leading edges of the tread blocks round off a bit.

I run then Adventure tire. Doing more aggressive offroading and less switchbacks (though I still like pushing the limit on asphalt). Got a 790 Adv R and didn‘t yet finish a set on her but had them on my 800GS. Rear lasted 5.000km with usable tread depth (6.000 total). Front was down to the half approx. Run the set of GPS on a 1200 GSA for 2.000km and really loved them onroad while they still have a reasonable traction offroad. They would last probably 2x the Adventure Tire.

Your thinking is exactly the same as mine, and you're using the exact combo I want to try, so this vid is very timely for me. I live in rural Canada and ride a lot of deep loose gravel. I don't mind the back end swinging around trying to find its way, however the few times that I have put my bike down in deep gravel is because the front end washes out. I've just sold my 2018 Africa Twin A/S and will take delivery of a 2020 790 Adventure in a few weeks. I know from many years of experience that on a luggage laden bike on a long trip that I will always get at least twice the mileage out of a front compared to a rear tire, so this combo makes sense. I'm looking forward to trying this combo on the 790. Typically on a 6 - 10,000 Km trip I'll ride 60+% on road and 30+% offroad mileage-wise, but those numbers are opposite time-wise, so good offroad capability is paramount. The Africa Twin was an awsome Adventure Touring bike, but just too big and heavy for the kind of riding I want to do. Thanks for a great vid.

Your comments about a more aggressive front tyre for off road and a more 'road' tyre for the rear mirror my own thoughts. ATM i am running a Motoz GPS front and the remains of a Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 on the rear on my BMW 1250GS. Good sealed road combo wet/dry & hot/cold and for most of the unsealed i ride (when dry) this suffices and sort of forces me to slow down some and enjoy the ride longer and check out the scenery. Will be fitting a part used Motoz GPS 4,500 kms rear very soon. Before, with the GPS rear and a 80/20 adventure front, the rear GPS offered plenty of grip when lent over coming out of corners with power on. When it lost grip the traction control kicked in and kept it all together. If i rode a bit more unsealed & tracks a Motoz Adventure tyre front & GPS rear likely would be a great combo. I sometimes ride with a guy who has a GSA and has Motoz Tractionator Adventures front & rear and on twisty sealed roads he keeps up with me, or i hold him up :), seemingly effortlessly. I am about at the limit of my trust in the GPS front and no way would i trust the Adventure front like he does. He says they squirm around a bit mid corner and he either has bigger balls or less sense imo. Maybe both. And the GPS fronts wear rate is low and i will possibly get 14,000 kms and this would be the most kms i have ever got from a front tyre. The rear GPS will likely go 10,000 kms if i look after it a bit and moderate the power application. I look forward to you providing info about the longevity of the tyre combo you are now running.

fantastic video!!! this has finally pushed me to get these tires. My main concern was the confidence on the road with them. Obviously these wont be as peg scrapping as the anakee 3's but I need something to stop my GSA front from wandering so much on gravel and light sand. Exactly like you said in the video I could almost care less what my rear does as far as veering left or right but dang when that front tire veers its so unsettling! Its one thing if your in a slop hole and your front tire veers because its expected but I have had numerous times that the anakees veered and I wasnt expecting it because I was on what appeared to be packed gravel or dirt. Nothing against the anakee 3's because its really amazing what they are capable of and they have been great and its kind of a tough switch but I have had so many close calls off road at moderate speeds that I feel for the sake of safety I need to switch. If I rode in groups I might keep the anakees but I am often in very remote areas alone. I dont scrape pegs anyway so I wont be missing much from the anakees

Excellent combo, very interesting comparison to the TCK80 too.I am sure that the front will resist side slip on gravel and soft sand better than the TCK on cornering. Will be interested to hear about wear on the rear, I reckon it will be much better, maybe double the TCK but have no idea if it is better or worse grip wise throughout it's wear life. My guess is that they will exceed expectation.

Thanks for the review...my dealership here in S. CA was telling me about them today so when I got home I found your review to watch. I have to do mostly highway riding as I live in Yuma and have to ride 3+ hours to really get to anything unless I’m riding around town so I want a good road tire that will be a little better for the gravel / forest service roads then the stock GSA tires. Was the GPS rear fairly planted in the corners on the road? Any experience with them in wet conditions yet? BTW...my riding season is just beginning now as the bike has sat in the garage all summer thanks to our 110+ heat this past summer, so glad I can finally get out and ride a little!!

Hi Shepherd! Thanks for watching! Im pretty happy with these tires so far! The biggest thing for me was finding a good front tire that would stay relatively planted on gravel roads and the Tractionator "Adventure" that I put on the front does an awesome job of that. At the same time I don't feel that I have lost any grip at speed or lean angle either. The rear Tractionator "GPS" tire is likewise awesome. It seems to hook up really well when you have it spinning in the dirt. Even more surprising is that it is really stable at 100+ mph and very stable a steep lean angles as well. All of that said, I have only scrubbed these tires in at a whopping 249 miles so far. I have not had them in the rain so I can't tell you anything there. I also don't yet know how well they will wear. I have heard good things on both fronts though. Hope this helps.

I have a Scorpion Rally STR front/Motoz GPS rear combination on my DR650 and I really like it. I feel no vibrations on the pavement but it does well enough off-road. It's a great 50/50 compromise. I'm struggling to decide what tires I want a for my 2014 VStrom 1000. The same combo as the DR? Full set of STR's? A full set of GPS? The new Anakee Adventure? I just don't know! @LIVEFORMOTO
@LIVEFORMOTO 3 жыл бұрын
They do pretty good for semi knobby bias-ply tire. However, everyone has a different idea of what pushing a bike in the twisties means. If you’re a former or current road racer or even a track day rider and know how to push a tire then I definitely don’t recommend them. However if you’re just out lean the bike over a little and have some fun then they’ll do great. The GS is a big heavy bike and tends to be heavier on the front unless loaded for a trip, this tends to push a 50/50 tire to its limit pretty quickly if you are an aggressive experienced rider. If you are then look at a Dunlop radial tire instead. If you just want a little fun on the pavement with nothing too aggressive, I think these will be great and still handle decent off road. I hope this helps. Ride with a smile!👍🏻

Need to change my tyres on a CRF 250 Rally. What do you cac suggest- more Motoz adventure or GPS. I'll be riding TET this summer, so may be adventure? Also what size is yours rear, is 140 or 130? Thanks
@LIVEFORMOTO
@LIVEFORMOTO 5 жыл бұрын
The rear tire on my bike is actually a 170. I am reluctant to make a recommendation to you as I have never tried these tires on a light bike like yours. The feedback and performance characteristics of tires can be dramatically different on a 585 pound beast like I ride. I just don't have any experience with these tires on light bikes, and unfortunately I don't know anyone who does. I would think there is probably some other reviews on KZbin that are focused toward light bikes. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Thank you for watching.

I see alot of bad reviews on tractionator adventure front for bad manners on pavement. A significant amount of them have removed the tire after a couple hundred miles. Did you have any issues before you switched them? Also the common theme is premature cracking. How long did you have them mounted and did you have any cracking problems?
@LIVEFORMOTO
@LIVEFORMOTO 4 жыл бұрын
pdrhound yes I had cracking problems with the GPS rear tire. The front adventure tire was great for the first 1000 miles and then it behaved very badly in terms of performance and wear. I have only left this video up for two reasons. They have since fixed the cracking/compound problem and I don’t like to trash a company for something that was clearly a mistake and has been corrected. I made a follow up video about the problems. Check my video list for it if you’re interested. I have since switched tire brands. I’m now 4000 miles into a set of Mitas E07’s and extremely pleased so far.
