MOTU Origins EXTENDAR Figure from Ebay Review with Parts Swapping!

Review of the Masters of the Universe Origins Extendar Figure that will be exclusive to Mattel Creations. I also show some heads and parts swapping with a couple of other Origins figures. .This figure was purchased on ebay as there were a few others sold as well including the Clear Extendar Prototype mold that was purchased from another seller and also reviewed from Another Content creator.
Motu Origins Extendar is supposed to be a Mattel Creations Exclusive figure. However some figures make it out of the factory to certain collectors or sellers and sold on ebay. It's possible this figure in the review and others sold on line is a rejection, early samples or the finished version. I don't think it is bootleg but anything is possible and I'm just reviewing what I have in hand and to the the Best of my knowlage. Those crack textures that you're seeing it's just the process of the injection molding with pearlescent metallic that creates randon metal effects sometimes you can see this effect on weapons swords and shields ✌🏼

Yeah, I heard some other comments saying the same thing. I had never seen that before in other figures I have with similar paint applied on the body. But mine figure also has some small cracks that are different from those lines. It's still an awesome Origins update figure! Thanks for watching and sharing your comments 👍

Lol. Fun times with these figures in the 80s. Yeah the shield always had a wacky design for this figure. But then again the whole Masters of the Universe series was built on wacky character designs and accessories. That's what made so fun in the day. Yeah the Vintage Extendar was very popular were I grew up as a kids with many of my friends that collected this line in the 80s. Extendar was also one of those figures that came out torward the end of the vintage series along with Snout Spout and Río blast. He has a unique design and action features that was really different from the vintage figures then. I think it's really cool to see this figure remastered many years later for the Origins now. Congrats on getting one preordered from Mattel Creations 👍

Wow, good exclusive review for you mate! About these last figures (Rokkon, Syklone, Extendar...) I prefer the vintage so far, think Mattel have down the quality in designs as, for example, the horde figures of Origins, but anyway, not too bad... thanks!

Thanks for checking this out! I also got Rokkon in hand. I never reviewed him.. I like the look, but you can see the quality is down compared to some other figures. I haven't got Sy-klone in hand yet. So I don't know how that figure will be as far as quality. This Extendar is a really cool design. But it has some paint or casting issues. However, this seems to normal with figures that have Marbilize plastic on the body from what I read. My figure is an early find. So maybe the final versions that will sell on Mattel Creations at some point will have improvements.👍

@@Themanchlid I really love Origins, I collect them and have most of the pieces, but I must admit that certain figures are more attractive to me in vintage than in Origins, although it is true that Extendar feels quite faithful; Regarding Syklone, I think it was a figure whose action feature was its hallmark, losing this and perhaps the loss of the characteristic shine in the vintage pieces is what makes me not like it so much, even without having a review it can be seen in the pics, I mean, just a beaty piece to see in your room but have not the spirit of the original toyline.

@malachy_28 Yeah, the Origins line in general is what really sticks out in a room with people who collected the toys as a kid and want to finish up that vintage collection with three origins. Certain figures stand out more than others because of colors, as you mentioned. It's really about nastalgia at this with the rest of this line. Figures like Extendar are a big part of that vintage collection even though he's not the most practical design similar to Snout Spout, who also came out the same time as the vintage Extendar and now remade for Origins and you just have to have him!

Thanks for watching! Yes you put the two extension pieces together. Each peg and socket end is just typical Origins ends. So they go together to make a larger Extendar if you had multiple pieces from two figures.

I remember I got Extendar during a class gift exchange in 3rd grade (from a classmate I wasn't too fond off oddly enough). He was part of my last Motu figures and I remember not liking him. I didn't like the swirly gray plastic, I thought he was generic looking, and for some reason I wasn't impressed by his action feature..lol. I was used to flinging Dragstor across my floor or smashing my the Battle armor guys together. He's okay in my book now...I have nostalgia goggles.

Thanks for checking this Extendar review out as well! Yeah, Extendar was released torward the end of the line. I remember getting him with Snout Spout and Rio Blast. I also remember being at the chech out counter with all three of those figures. I was really excited to see new figures and get all three. But I didn't have enough money. My mom was waiting in the car. I needed a couple more dollars. I was gonna put one back and some guy behind me waiting in line, put the money down, and said, "Enjoy, kid. So i always think of those three figures, including Extendar, about that guy helping me out so I can get all three. I think I liked Extendar the most than. I don't remember the swirly plastic looking as rough as this Origins with those lines from the Marbilize plastic process. Dragstor is another figure I really want in Origins. I also played with him a bit across the floor! Nastalgia in deed!👍

Those lines are typical of silver metallic plastic. There's similar lines in the silver plastic on the Horde Trooper, Battle Armor He-Man and Snake Armor He-Man to name a few.

Also Roboto has the same shit issue with that 'silver' material! My Origins Roboto suffers from those plastic cracks also. The Mattel factories pretty much don't bother weeding out QC issues from their production lines anymore, I'm sure of it.

Apparently, those likes are normal on the Marbilize plastic process that gives that silver casting effect on these modern figures from the comments I read. I never really noticed it before until I got this Extendar and then looked at other figures like Roboto and my Horde trooper. They all had those lines.

I don't remember vintage Extendar being shorter than Skeletor in unextended mode. I can't recall if his mouth was like that, either. Hard to find images of his vintage figure;s mouth, because it's blocked by the face shield.

I had the vintage Extendar as a kid as well! I also don't remember all the details of that figure now. I kind of remember as the vintage line went on. Some of the newer figures felt more stubby in the legs. This Origins Extendar has really short legs in the thigh area. That's why he seems shorter to me in unexspected mode. I kind of feel like they should have been a little longer. Bit he looks awesome when funny extendant! Thanks for checking the review out!

Still catching up on these reviews, have a few left, but definitely was interested in checking this one out. So, I kind of see now how problematic it would have been to keep the action feature intact on the arms and legs without losing the articulation, which a lot of people want. But at least they figured out a viable way of extending the neck and waist using a unique buck (as well as keeping the parts interchangeable). Though it makes me wonder why they couldn’t have done this with Mekaneck and Rattlor, and perhaps made them more exclusive to compensate. Oh well… at least half of Extendar’s “vintage” features are still intact. His shield is kind of weird, I don’t remember it being quite so odd-looking. In fact, the overall design of Extendar doesn’t feel quite as interesting and fun as I used to think it was when I was a kid…which is weird. I guess nostalgia can be a funny thing…sometimes you can look back on certain things objectively as an adult and realize, “Hmm, maybe it’s not all that after all!” 😂 And yeah, not sure how I feel about that silver paint and the “cracked” marks. Of course, I’m still going to try and get this figure when it becomes available on Mattel Creations (which I have to assume will be the next exclusive coming very soon). I hope this isn’t going to be another Wun-Dar debacle with these early “leaked” figures showing up online. Great review! ~Damon

Hey Damon, thanks for getting to this video as you catch up on my reviews! It's always appreciated! I think they did a good job on the over design and how the parts work, but I am still keeping the newer articulation with this figure. I'm sure the interest is all about the nastalgia at this point for many of us when it comes to certain figures like Extendar that is really that practical as a character. The cracks are strange looking, but apparently, the normal bi product of the Marbilize coating they put on this figure. I'm not sure when Mattel Creations will put him up for Preorder. I would think very soon or before SDCC in July! 👍

I'm curious what it'd look like too.. but I guess if one is a completist, one will need this one.. but if anyone's like me that collect multiple versions of Masters, the Classics would do 💯 too, since the plug in pieces are the same in concept (very disappointing again btw no actual extend function like vintage) Plus the Classics can really extend much more than the Origins, my gut feeling anyhow! no lost not getting this one imo!

yeah that's cool ; I guess I'm bit luckier to get my Classics one from a collectible toy shop that used to subbed the Classics line, and they sell them for honestly not that much more from Matty Collectors own website back then (I got it for $30'ish about a decade ago?) so long story short is that I don't feel the least guilt to open mine up to enjoy mugging around the figure at that price ;) really a fun one even with those plug-in option! Origins did work harder on the design in terms of the shield! hope many other ppl can get this .. retail any hope??

Usually when some of these figures get out before the launch in my experience with this line, then they are Usually early versions that someone with connection got a hold of and sell on ebay. They also have the most issues. There's another Content creator that has the actual Extendar clear Test figure in hand on his channel. Mr Arcade! It can snap on similar to the heads. But it looks wider compared to the neck extension. I originally showed that with the Meckaneck head, but it was cut in editing because of sound issues, and I didn't re film it again. Thanks for watching 👍

No this Extendar figure was sold on ebay by a random seller that got a hold of a few early figures from the factory I guess. He is supposed go.up for Preorder on Mattel Creations at some point. Sy-klone was already sold on Mattel creations a few days ago and sold out. They should be shipping out soon. You will have to go on ebay to pick one up once people get them in hand. @@bozolozo21 Yeah it's annoying with so many of these figures. Mattel already said the rest of the vintage inspired figures for Origins will all be sold on Mattel creations. Some will be exclusives like Two Bad who will be a SSDC exclusive which really stinks for many people. I just check the Mattel creations Launch calender one a week under Motu to see when the next figure will be up for Preorder. Syclone was announced a week before the sale. I think he sold out in about three hours or so.

It’s not overspray … it’s literally silver plastic , and it creates an effect marbleization (as in marble), it seems it occurs in silver and gold plastic , you can see it in other figures like marvel legends

Thanks for stopping in as always! Yeah I could have made an hour long video in just Parts Swapping along. It's very time consuming and makes the reviews really long to try every combination of Parts. Plus pulling my figures apart over and over for reviews are causing issues in the pegs and joints. My Meckaneck is one of those figures.

The quality issues on the body you speak of is nothing but metallic plastic being injected into the mold. It sets very quickly and sometimes it creates these “meet” lines all over the body in different places.

Plastic was coloured silver while still in liquid state and when they are pouring it in molds these lines do form unfortunately. Masterverse figures usually have these cracks on their upper leg part.

Thanks for checking out the review! I think it comes down to more expensive tooling costs for certain action features. Extendar is just a pull up feature. Meckaneck would more involved with other extra parts inside to twist the waist and make the neck go up and down that's more involved with assembly parts at the factory and costs more to do today. I guess Mattel decides what figures are easier to give vintage action features to or just the Modular peg snap set up and use another already tooled buck.

Not a crack.. more like plastic mold injection impurities, or the lack of pressure and heat. It's where the molten hot plastic meet inside the mold and they do melt together but leaves a seam, because like i said, likely insufficient pressure and heat.

Yeah, I see now understanding that they Marbilized the plastic the closer I looked at him after the review. I don't have or remember the vintage Extendar anymore. Other people also picked up a few of these Extendar figures floating around early on eBay, and they also had the cracking or line appearance like this one. It’s not a QC issue on the face plate. It’s marbleize ation of the pigment that’s in the plastic silver tends to do this a lot.

Ya any silver metalic plastic runs the risk of having those lines in it. Marvel legends does it a lot. Ive heard that its from the plastic cooling to quickly. Its hard to see on more flat colors but metalics stick out because of the metal flake or whatever they put in it to make it shine. I have so many figures that have those lines right on the face. Sucks.

I'm not sure if this early release version I found online is the finished product before they go up on preorder. But I think these colors are the normal design for Extendar from the comments with that marbalizing coating. Even the lines are normal from what I have been told. How is Dragstor an important character ?

He was an important character going back to the vintage collection as part of the Horde with a unique road ripping action feature or that wheel on his chest that made him a mutant dragstor vehicle. I think many Origins collectors what him as another Horde figure to add and finish upbthe Vintage inspired Origins figures. Thanks for checking out the review 👍

I was going to go for this when it came to MC but i think he looks a little janky and odd when in non-extended mode. Id imagine he is hard to pose due to the extended pieces, the shield is also a little awkward and impractical for display but we cant blame Mattel as its how the vintage figure was. That marbled silver plastic really does not look great on any of the Origins figures its been used on thus far.

Thanks for checking out the review! Yeah, he looks odd when not extended, as you mentioned. It's something with the real short upper legs. But once you add the extensions, he looks much better. The shield was always strange. But it's MOTU! I guess the wacky weapons are what makes it fun. Yeah, they used marbled plastic. It has a lot of injection lines on my Buck and cracks in certain areas. Aside from that. I really like the overall look, and I'm glad to see this figure coming to the Origins line 👌

Ok here's is my big complaint about some of those releases! Why on EARTH mattel doesn't do this collector friendly packaging for all the retro line as they should be and i cannot open my figures as well to enjoy them like this?! Why so randomly to extendar only,except she-ra which they made her in a comic-con special edition with rooted hair years back like that?!? Those toy lines are mostly for collectors which are usually grown ups i believe,and it is time to start respecting us a little more even when it comes to small bits like the packaging! I wanted so freaking much to remove my scareglow figurine from the package and not i cannot! From now on i believe they should make all the blister carded figures like this! The figure is awesome and gotta say i love the gold & silver plastic embedded in it,also loved the action feature as well! Those toy remakes are much better than the vintage ones in articulation and all! Good stuff sharing with us thanks mate! 😉

I hear you're frustration about the collectors friendly packaging not being applied to all the Newer or Exclusive Origins figures. I wish Mattel would do this with all of them. It's really cool to be able to remove a figure for review and then put it back mint on card with that easy ship cover back. I'm not sure why they can't do this with all the figures. Maybe it's more costly to them. Aside from that! I really like the new design and coating of this Extendar figure for Origins. Mine has some areas that look like cracks or just lines that are the normal part of the Marbilize plastic process. It's not the worst thing. This Extendar was a fun review because there are only a few out there. So, hopefully, this gives people a heads up on what to expect once the first is up on Mattel Creations. The most miserable thing about the figure is the lack of gold/copper painting on certain parts like the hands. It looks like caramel. Extendar was my favorite and Nr. 1 figure in the 1980s. With the caramel color instead of gold or copper it is no longer in my top 10.

Yeah the parts today like the hands on this Extendar is more of a plastic color mixing like the Marbilize finish on the body instead of paint apps that some of the vintage figures had in certain areas. I remember my vintage Extendar being much deeper in colors as well. The Origins line seems to replicate the vintage colors in concept but they are more flat and very bright. In hand Extendar still looks good aside odd issues on my figure. It might just be an early release look.

Super disappointed all of his limbs aren’t an extendable action feature. I get they want the extra articulation, but I feel as though they could have made it work by making them collapse into the forearms and shins.

I honestly didn't expect all the limbs to be collapsible, just seeing how the Origins have made sacrifices to other figures because of articulation or to make parts more interchangeable. And of course, to save tooling costs. I think it's OK for the most part. It's the paint that's cracked, which is a bigger issue. At least in my figure. It's not that bad. Rokkon was available for over an hour & Sy-Klone didn't sell out for 3 hours. You can easily get them. I haven't had any problems with them yet. I've ordered every one except for Camo Khan & Kol-Darr. Went smoothly every time.
