MOTUL 7100 STRANGE EXPERIENCE WITH SYNTHETIC OIL IN 100cc BIKE MOBIL 1 RACING MOTUL 7100 DREAM YUGA

Strange experience on my 125cc bike with Motul 7100. My bike has been running well with semi synthetic oils, mostly Shell 10w40 for the past 25k km. For once I used Mobil super moto 10w40 semi synthetic but I wasn't satisfied so I switched back to Shell. Coming to Motul 7100, the itch towards moving to a fully synthetic bit me and I took the leap. After the oil change gear shifts are super smooth but ! I see Froth developed (through the oil level sight glass) when I ride hard for a few km ! Usage pattern is 100℅ city which demand gear shifts every 10-15seconds, occasional bursts/ fast runs on empty stretches. Never seen froth development in any oils so far other than substandard OEM oil changes done by a few service station folks. It is not the oil observed to be substandard, it is their oil change method. I've seen and heard stories of mechanics draining oil partially/ filling already used oil which is evident when inspected. Not sure about others but this is my experience. Summary: With Motul 7100 my bike has done only 200km and I feel it is too early to comment on oil drop, so far performance is the best from any oils used till date, marginal improvement in fuel efficiency, but FROTH !

Recently I have also faced this problem of dropping level of motul 7100 engine oil in 2012 pulsar 150cc. There was no sign of leakage nor any smoke . I have also checked the spark plugs and it was clean , no sign of oil was there on the spark plugs. I have done around 3800 kms and as I was not aware so I didn't top up with engine oil. Last week while was riding back to home from work which is 200 kms I felt that my bike is struggling to gain speed at highway so I stopped at a bike garage and checked the oil level, I was surprised to see that only 250 ml of oil was there when it was drained out. God has saved me from a huge expense of engine seizure.Then I filled new motul 3100 engine oil and now the performance of the bike is not as same as it was earlier. So , I think it is advisable to always check the bike engine oil level regularly after the oil has done around 1500 kms especially in lower cc segment bikes.

That's some overboard testing ! How about trying a 10w50 on low capacity bikes 😉 As for experiences there was an experience with a friend's new shine sp in which I had asked him to use shell ax7 semi synthetic 10w40 which would do better in stop go traffic. After about 1000 km when I rechecked the oil level it has gone done by some margin. It needed top up but we didn't do just to observe to what extent the level would go and the engine still kept consuming oil. By the next service at least 300ml was gone. The bike owner complained to the service folks about the issue and did mention about changing the oil too. Their explanation was weird as they said that only 900ml needs to go in but local mechanics fill in the entire can of 1 liter which would end up in oil consumption. This was wired because the oil consumption was more than a 100ml. The weirdest part is that after the service and oil change to OEM, the oil consumption stopped and the bike was running fine ! I was just embarrassed on recommending him to change to a better oil as he asked me if the semi synthetic or the OEM did better. I had to 🙊 Sometimes such things happen and without knowing the root cause, we can't get to a conclusion.

I too experienced the drop in the oil levels after riding 2000 kms in my RTR 200, Gear shifts became hard during the initial period, then I checked the oil level it was reduced. I bought Motul 7100 from Flipkart.

As i was motul 7100 for past 40000kms in my AS200. I have observed the same oil level drop issue. It's always a negligible level of around 100ml, oil level is decreasing. I observed that after long rides like 1000+kms, oil drop occurs. This might be happening because of high engine temperature, still my bike is equipped with liquid cooling.

Could be but this never happen with other synthetic oils used in the same engine. This could possibly be due to different noack volatility numbers in these oils.

If you didn't know, air cooled engines tend to do this with fully synthetic oils and this is observed even more with ester based oil such as motul 7100, 300v. In 5100 it's lesser pronounced. We generally call it vapourising.. I'm not sure if that's the right term or why this happens with air / oil cooled engines. Not harm in long term, we just need to keep topping up.

Hi Shreyas, This could possibly be due to higher noack volatility experienced by the oil in this engine, cannot confirm without proper evidence. As we known 7100 is 100% synthetic but not with 100% easter base. Thanks for the suggestion, no issues after the top up 😊

I am currently using motul 5100 10w30 in my honda shine 125, and i encountered the same problem.. the oil level drops in roughly 3 months period, without leaking or whatsoever... And good work mate, yours videos short and to the point, that quality is a rare these days..

7100 does suffer from evaporation , and oil level drops after 1000+Km. I've faced this on my ktm rc 390 when after 2k kms oil level seems to be dropped in the oil window

@@prabharanyal6946 i am trying to say that issue of dropping oil level is solved by motul now and now the 7100 coming in new packaging have no issue of dropping oil level This issue is because of this oil is made for liquid cooled engine but for now it is solved and if you want better oil than 7100 try mobil 1 racing fully synthethic from flipkart and feel the change but dont buy from amazon they have old stock with sj grade but flipkart have new stock with sn grade

The engine oil is pushed to the air filter chamber and within 2000 kms the oil level went below minimum which happened to me when changing from 10w30 to 10w40 (CB Unicorn 150 and Motul 5100)

I think the loss was due to the PCV system. Pressure might have increased a lot in the crankcase leading the oil out of the sump. Can you please check the air filter and check for the same?

Yes sir, Motul on long ride evaporate to some extent I experienced on my Pulsar 150 bs4. I ride approx 100 kms, continuously and then take 5 to 10 min break. This time I have done 180 kms on a, single go. The engine oil performed well in 450 kms ride but I had to top up approx 100 ml. I will change engine oil to castrol power 1 racing this time and check this time if it evaporates or not

I tried motul 7100 10w50 in my Dominar 400 but my experience wasn't good. The worst thing was the cold starts and warm up of the oil in winters. I live in indore where temperatures doesn't drop to extreme low like in other cities for eg Delhi, Pune. The starter gear used to make very strange noise while starting the bike cold each and every time. Though gear shifting was smooth, the NVH levels were still not smooth on even highways. I did a 1400 kms ride ( up and down ) in January and the fuel efficiency was still not decent. I switched from Motul to liqui moly after using the same oil within 3000 kms approx. From then, my experience with liqui moly is very good till date. I too faced little oil level drop by about 100 ml within city rides before going to that 1400 kms ride. Now I don't know if i got a counterfeit motul product or what but my experience was not good with it.

I'm using 7100 for the past 1 year, I have used it twice in past 10,000 Kms and more. I experienced drop in oil level both the time as you said. But both the time it was before 1500 Kms after the oil change. After topping up never had this issue. I think it's quite natural for 7100 in initial Kms.

The oil level drop may be caused by high levels of detergents removing sludge buildup thus causing leaks to open up which were clogged by the sludge thus causing the oil to burn up. This will not happen over night. Oil is designed to slowly dissolve and remove gunk slowly.

You can choose between Shell, Motul, Liqui Molly 10w 40 fully synthetic oil for your engine. And regarding the chain clean it with kerosene and as a lube use 90grade gear oil. It stays more on the chain than compared to Motul or kangaroo or any other chain lube. First apply kersone on the chain using a tooth brush or a paint brush. Once you have cleaned the chain apply gear oil let it flow slowly on the chain with the help of pouring bottle. Strictly don't turn on the engine while cleaning the chain. Ester based oils binds to the engine and I have experienced huge shrinking inside the engine and had to top up with other oils In other countries they give out 1.2 ltrs and 1.5 ltrs version oils But in our country motul doesn't care about consumers

Motul isn't great to he honest, they are over rated.

Apache 160 4v is best bike but slightly lack comfort after 3rd service. Because i have this bike. Bike is simply superb. If you want fully comfort only concern, no other factors such as performance, design , instrument console ,headlight and looks you can go to fz v3. But i prefer Apache 160 4v bs6 is best.

I have an RTR 2004v. Before I was using motul. This time TVs center center they won't use outside oil, only their own. So I used TVs true oil. Before I changed from local shop. After using TVs oil, engine noise is increased, vibration increased, gear shifting is hard also noisy . Plus my clutch got slipped while riding. No clutch at all. I adjusted the clutch from a local shop as there was no near by TVs service center. Now the problem is in 1st and 2nd gear after leaving the clutch level full , it engages half and half will engage after few seconds or after I raise the acceleration. Why so much problem? Shall I change the engine oil? And also shall I change clutch to slipper clutch?

@@thesportztourer Wow, I greatly appreciate your reply 🙏 I ride a tvs Radeon 2021 and since I ride the bike pretty hard, I'm currently using the liqui moly street race 10w40, ride gets really smooth only after 45mins to an hour of riding when engine is hot, shifting gears are a bit rough, and she struggles bady when doing 75-80 speed (revs high).

I have bajaj 100 T 5 gear. Engine oil replacement required as per company 9000 km . But with my tender riding I get 13000 km. Its usually in between 3500-4000km under heavy use. The drain interval also depends upon type of engine and its usage.

The oil Bajaj uses is also made by Total which is comparable to Motul. If you're facing no issues with stock, there's no reason to change oil to another.

Hi Sushovan! No issues with the gasket, I am saying this because the issue didn't arised later & this never happened with other synthetic oils used in this engine.

Hey bro M frm Assam I have a Apache RTR 160 The company recommends engine oil grade is 10w30 Bro can can I used 10w40 instead of 10w30 Because there 10W30 fully synthetic engine oil is not available in market and in online stores also . I have searched a lot but didn't found .. Whenever I searched 10w30 fully synthetic engine oil of motul.or loqui moly or shell it appears 10w40 grade ?? Why ??

Sir you can go for motul 5100 10w40 semi synthetic because it's only 125cc engine this oil will help you in traffic conditions, mileage improvement,smooth gear shift and good tear and wear protection if you need premium you can go for motul 7100 10w40

Hi Sriram, As suggested by Nirjan I would recommend sticking to a good 10W-30 or 10W-40 grade oil for your Glamour.

@@sriram5839 In winters you shouldn't. Because a higher grade oil than the recommended would not flow quickly in the engine and result in wear and tear. In the long term you may have to rebuild your engine quicker. Try it in summer. I'd suggest, the glamour BS4 i3s already has a engine sound issue, you may not want that sound to increase because of engine wear and tear. So better be using the 10w30 grade, or maybe you can go with the 10w40 also.

After switching to synthetics its usually in between 55-60 depending upon riding conditions. On highways it can surpass 60kmpl if ridden in the economy zone.

@@Nick-tb9kc but the problem is in my rtr oil evaporates due to high speeds and very high rpm. I have used liqui moly street race also but the problem is Same oil quality remains good but it evaporates... 70%oil was evaporated at 5000kms (no sign of oil leakage or white smoke from exhaust)... I have sensed that oil travels to air chamber due to high RPM and air filter soak the oil resulting decrease in oil level..... In my opinion we should change engine oil at every 3000km so that oil keeps on changing in our bike and quality and level is maintained...
