I really liked the way you re-used the old track to add detail to the layout. also, it's like someone from head office has been out and decided the station signs needed an update, helps add to the impression of a real working railway.

Lewis, Another gentle episode illustrating the incremental development of your vast and detailed layout. Any new items still require planning, acquisition, installation and adjustment to meld into the existing surroundings, yet still add freshness. This video, like so many, is instructive, restful and a lesson in miniaturised artistic creation. Well done again. Peter

Another way that model railways mimic real life is that there is always something to be done to improve things. I love the way you present these "work on the layout" videos, they are fascinating to watch. The signals and lineside details are a huge improvement. I look forward to seeing properly signaled trains running on the Dales layout. Super video Lewis, Thanks. .. David.

Greetings Mr Raspberry. It is so true that the more detail you add the better the scene becomes, and how true this is here. I was a little surprised that you did not attempt a nylon cotton or another variety of operation for the signals. A s you have to move with the trains to operate them you could have mounted them on the fascia of the board perhaps? That said I have servo operated signals on mine but prior to this luxury I always used the Peco wire and lever method. However needs, cost and experience are all contributory factors. Looking superb. Love the new signs and the lineside track clutter. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Bob

Thank you Bob, always appreciate it. If I was starting from scratch I probably would have. Maybe on the next layout. As you say, the switches mounted on the fascia of the baseboard is a great idea.

Nice new touches. Now the stations are spruced up with gleaming new sighs someone needs to be sent down to the loco sheds and give the locomotives a wash 😉. Your attention to details is the signature of a great artist. I pick you the idea with the signals, chunky but, with a little work, they look fine. The signage of your stations is beautifull. You certainly already have this idea, but, a discreet weathering would improve it, and makes it more realistic looking Last but not least, the bits and bobs around the lineside huts. Simple, dirt cheap but great ! I love it.

¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! The line side hut and spoil, a brilliant cameo scene. I’ve paid close attention to your method of weathering on the rails you used. Which specific powders do you use or, have you used chalks and shaved off the dust? I see the regional manager finally gave way to upgraded signals - nice addition. Stay safe and well. Un saludo. Thanks Gary. I use the Humbrol powders - smoke, brown, rust and white. For the rail I used the rust but did tone this down a bit after. I mixed the powder with a bit of water and it gives it a nice texture. You as well.

Best part is sprucing up the lineside hut with lying sleepers and rails .... that is an authentic touch as would be .... the work gang putting them there. If you added figures acting the part in different areas that gives the layout life ... far more than watching trains going round and round. Small scenic touches will add more enjoyment and anticipation .... what new figure or small feature has come to life where ....... that would be my most welcome regular strategic tactic to these videos.

Hi Lewis, I like the new details you have added to the layout. The new station name boards are a great addition, did you make them from scratch or were they another bargin bin find? Great stuff just goes to show even "complete" layouts are always improving. Best regards Dave.

Hi, I am an American from the United States and I have been loving your layout for like ever now since you started this layout. I am going to be remaking this layout on a steam game called Rolling Lines. Rolling Lines is a game where you can model layouts when you don't have the cash or money for making a real one. You can create for whatever you desire so that is why I will be making your layout in that game. Thought you should know since it is your layout, to begin with. :)

Fantastic video mate. The little additions add so much to the layout it’s true when people say just add steam and you’d believe it was real! Question on those signals, do you intend on having them attached to a servo to operate them or just the good old hand of god? Keep it up mate and stay safe. Have a good weekend and happy modelling. Ross.
@MouldyRaspberry
@MouldyRaspberry 4 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ross. I need some dry ice or something to blow though the tunnels 😂 Hand of the Heavenly Father, just like the points and uncoupling. If I had a smaller layout I’d give the servo powered signals a go, but I don’t think they’ll grace this layout - I just don’t fancy setting them all up. You as well bud 👍🏻

I don't understand the swap of the station signs at 0.14. I well remember the British Railways paperclip emblem being used as signs but they were cut to the profile of the paperclip and attached to lamp posts or suspended from canopies. The large rectangular signs, usually out towards each end of the platform, simply carried the station name in block capitals i.e. like the one being taken out. I don't ever remember the logo being reproduced in this way on a large freestanding sign and a flick through my railway books seems to confirm this.

Hey there mr. Great vid as always, really appreciate you taking the time to produce these for us all. One thing though, hate to criticise, but afraid your new signs really spoil the look of your lovely layout. Appreciate in another comment already, you say they could be weathered in due course. I do think there is an urgent need for an acid rainstorm to tone them down somewhat!! On another note though, love the attention to detail with those sleepers and rusty rails next to the little hut (◕‿◕)

The lineside hut scenes look very realistic Just the right weathering on the sleepers and lengths of rail. It is good to see working signals as well. Although the Ratio are more realistic I agree it is time consuming to get the tiny parts put together and free moving. Also found the relaxing music you used. As you say no need for commentary the pictures and music are all that's is needed to make an enjoyable update video
