Lewis, Another gentle episode illustrating the incremental development of your vast and detailed layout. Any new items still require planning, acquisition, installation and adjustment to meld into the existing surroundings, yet still add freshness. Another way that model railways mimic real life is that there is always something to be done to improve things. I love the way you present these "work on the layout" videos, they are fascinating to watch. The signals and lineside details are a huge improvement. Greetings Mr Raspberry. It is so true that the more detail you add the better the scene becomes, and how true this is here. I was a little surprised that you did not attempt a nylon cotton or another variety of operation for the signals. A s you have to move with the trains to operate them you could have mounted them on the fascia of the board perhaps? That said I have servo operated signals on mine but prior to this luxury I always used the Peco wire and lever method. However needs, cost and experience are all contributory factors. Looking superb. Love the new signs and the lineside track clutter. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Bob

Your attention to details is the signature of a great artist. I pick you the idea with the signals, chunky but, with a little work, they look fine. The signage of your stations is beautifull. You certainly already have this idea, but, a discreet weathering would improve it, and makes it more realistic looking Last but not least, the bits and bobs around the lineside huts. Simple, dirt cheap but great ! I love it.

¡Hola buenas tardes Lewis! The line side hut and spoil, a brilliant cameo scene. I’ve paid close attention to your method of weathering on the rails you used. Thanks Gary. I use the Humbrol powders - smoke, brown, rust and white. For the rail I used the rust but did tone this down a bit after. I mixed the powder with a bit of water and it gives it a nice texture. You as well.

Wonderful - I SO love your upgrade videos Lewis! Really great touches here, and I love the new tank engine! (BR 4MT?). So understand the Hornby jobbies. Thanks for sharing - Teresa@Findhorn Light (P.S. - thought a train might get you one day)

Best part is sprucing up the lineside hut with lying sleepers and rails .... that is an authentic touch as would be .... the work gang putting them there. If you added figures acting the part in different areas that gives the layout life ... far more than watching trains going round and round. Small scenic touches will add more enjoyment and anticipation .... what new figure or small feature has come to life where ....... that would be my most welcome regular strategic tactic to these videos.

Fantastic video mate. The little additions add so much to the layout it’s true when people say just add steam and you’d believe it was real! I don't understand the swap of the station signs at 0.14. I well remember the British Railways paperclip emblem being used as signs but they were cut to the profile of the paperclip and attached to lamp posts or suspended from canopies. The large rectangular signs, usually out towards each end of the platform, simply carried the station name in block capitals i.e. like the one being taken out. I don't ever remember the logo being reproduced in this way on a large freestanding sign and a flick through my railway books seems to confirm this.

One thing though, hate to criticise, but afraid your new signs really spoil the look of your lovely layout. Appreciate in another comment already, you say they could be weathered in due course. On another note though, love the attention to detail with those sleepers and rusty rails next to the little hut (◕‿◕)

Thanks Christof. They definitely need a bit of weathering to blend them in. That’s a job for this weekend I think! Thanks very much as always, appreciate it 👍🏻

I loved it !! You should put some detonators out before someone gets really injured :-)
@MouldyRaspberry4 жыл бұрын
Imagine if someone produced mini OO gauge detonators that bang when you run over them. You’ve given me a good idea for the next ‘train in trouble’ video!

Does your layout go in one big loop or does it end at some point?

I. Am so happy that you don’t use those horrible tension lock couplers. They would make your whole wonderful railroad look awfull

The lineside hut scenes look very realistic Just the right weathering on the sleepers and lengths of rail. It is good to see working signals as well. Although the Ratio are more realistic I agree it is time consuming to get the tiny parts put together and free moving. Also found the relaxing music you used. As you say no need for commentary the pictures and music are all that's is needed to make an enjoyable update video
@MouldyRaspberry4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, always appreciate it. I’d never be able to get those signals moving. Glad you like the new updates.
