I wish, but realistically thousand man armies in the 1400’s were actually fairly uncommon for many lords to have especially in the HRE. Maybe in the second game we’ll meet more nobles than just a few small Czech lords with only 50-60 men.

@@peterbriedon8058 I think the real bottleneck is pathfinding, if they had 2000 models to path on each side, the performance would be very irregular especially on maps with a lotta terrain due to their engine's limitation. Not to mention the amount of textures and shadows, for sure :) TBH the performance is already irregular due to that on village maps when you attack with an army

This is the best medieval cinematic I've ever seen. It looks very real and I love how at 0:24 you can hear the peasants breathing heavily as they see the enemy army amassing to deliver their fate.

I recommend you use the mod "Troop Collision and siege tower and castle stairs fix" so that the troops don't clip inside of each other when fighting. It looks a bit weird when they're inside of each other trying to smack someone with their sword.

you will ned a huge broad band to have all those units and players in sync otherwise it could be a fucking and laggy mess with a lot desyncs and server kicks, at least in warbands and napoleonic you could have 200 players battles or 600 units with bots and players

This is awesome! I wish they had a "marching mod", so that when you order an Advance, the AI walk instead of jog. Only when you hit Charge will they break out into a sprint. Would make larger battles more cooler and slower when they are marching towards one another from a distance XD

They walk slower when you tell the to do a shield wall. I usually tell them to do a shield wall then advance.

I heard from some historians that front line man to man battles like this were actually very rare. Most wars during medieval/pre-gun era's were won or lost utilizing mostly skirmishing tactics from a medium distance. Swords were never a primary weapon but a secondary supposedly

In many eras swords often were a sidearm BUT that had nothing to do with whether there was hand-to-hand fighting or not. All that means is that troops used pikes, spears, poleaxes etc depending on era. I don't believe it is true that major battles were often just skirmishing, unless you meant something else. In between larger battles there were many more smaller skirmishing actions, raids, sieges etc yes but when a major battle took place there invariably was hand-to-hand fighting. I mean 1 decisive engagement usually settled a conflict, so relative to the total number of engagements they would've been rare.

I've made a similar battle yesterday. My 840 soldiers vs Unqid's 1300+ soldiers. It was massive and I died at the middle of war, AI took control of the battle. As you can imagine, we were almost losing because of AI's shitty tactics. When the battle was over, only 70 soldiers were alive in my troops. I was so scared to lose. Almost shitted to my pants

Daaamn that was epic !! Did you ever had stuttering in battles ? I have almost the exact pc specs as you except for a 2070 GPU, but when battles are more than 700 it starts to lag a biit, but its not because of the graphics because low or very high it does the same .

It'll be your cpu what is making you lag. Very cpu intensive when you have hundreds of ai on the field at once

On top of the 3700x he might also be overclocked a fair bit as well. If so that'd explain being able to maintain 30fps or a above. My ancient I7 4790k at 4.8Ghz, GTX 1080 Ti seems to hold up decently at 1440p 1000 man battles. Haven't tried beyond that though.

Is there a particular mod you're using to remove the faction colours from people's clothing? I noticed that their tunics are all natural, woollen colours without faction dyes. Amazing content! This looks so cool!

Gladly the Aserai lost this one. They annoy me in my recent savegame the most, so I was thrilled. xD Very good cinematics, though. Good work! I wish there was an option ingame to disable the battle music by default without always doing it manually. If you played this several hundret hours, it is a bit killing the immersion of an intense battle. But however, this game is so cool and I hope for the future, it becomes even better (I play Vanilla since day 1).
