i second that , i remember puting the game on easier (1/4)so that my whole army woudnt get slaughtered by archers , in witch if you played on good they were all evolved to max lvl, god i hated that

just train a bunch of rhodok crossbowmen, nord huscarls, and set up the huscarls a couple steps infront of the crossbowmen. Your crossbowmen will annihilate the castle's garrison while your huscarls tank the shots; when your crossbowmen run out of bolts, hit tab and retreat, then repeat. You can also draw out the rest of them who they can't kill by standing at the edge of where they all wait by the ladder or whatever and moving back once they start to attack. Just learned this recently, and it may be a super cheesy way to win, but eh whatever

I hope Bannerlord has more opportunities to earn experience outside of combat. Sure, the starting quests in Warband give you a few hundred exp, but you'll never get anywhere without participating in numerous massive battles.

Pieter F That would make sense if the leveling of skills was dependent on what skills you exercise. For example, I could earn exp and use my levelups to increase my combat effectiveness. Or, I can use it to increase my... Trade skill? As it stands in Warband, you don't earn exp for doing things besides fighting. But maybe I want to RP as a trader or caravan master... My trade skill will always be low despite how much actual trading I do, since there's no exp reward for it.

I've seen people saying this but I just don't know what you're expecting. Are you looking for a fancy script to play every attack? Cause that would kill the fluidity. The Attack animations are exaggerated but they sort of need to be for multiplayer to work, so I don't know really what it is you guys want, but I am curious, please elaborate. It'd be easier to kill the combat than make it look/play any better, so I'd rather they focus on everything else, myself.

+Crixalis Well, as a fan of Mount&Blade series I would like to tell you what I think. If you ever played witcher or Assains creed, you will know the smoothness of battle. In those game, when you attack someone they will be affected by the attack. Sadly in m&b series that action is not much reflected. We may sometimes see enemies stumbling, thats all. You can't get the feeling of hitting something in m&b series. I was hoping for it to become better but it appears they used the same gameplay mechanics. But still, needless to say, with or without a new animations, this game is going to be the best game ever.

A lot. Indie studios don't have much budgeting, which is obviously pointed out because they have INTERNS. Interns don't get payed, they're from local universities, which means they don't have much experience. They also had to re make an engine from scratch to support more troops. In many ways you're overlooking what they can and can't do.

You know what I think I love the most while watching this? The enemy reacting to what the player does during the siege. Ram at the gates? Some guys move to the pots to throw stuff down. Siege tower gets to the walls? A large group of melee guys rush in. The walls start to fall? Troops fall back to the keep, to better defend from. Like...damn. I hope that kind of A.I. behavior is in the full game!

Please add the option to lift the wooden pillar from behind the door in case you were able to infiltrate it. Even if your men infiltrated it they should do it. Would be so amazing. Trojan horse style.

Please also add the option to split your melee units. Unit one fall back and such. And please add the option to choose how many archers and infantry enter the battle. For example i would love to start the battle with a lot of archers and a lot of heavy armor, then send in the rest. Just to feel more immersive. I think all of us love that feeling when you see archers and catapults fire at the same time. Concentrated fire is even better.

We definitely want to involve players at some point so they can dig in and help with final touches and game balance. And, yes, the big challenge was to make a platform for the future with this game. That’s one reason that it took so long. At the beginning, some of the choices that we made - technological and design - were suboptimal. They became limiting factors when we wanted to add more things, which led to having to do things two or three times. We’ve improved in that regard. This game is very in depth, complete with army management, logistics, provincial management, etc. This vid is just a tiny facet of what Mount and Blade is about. Second off, the modding community for this game is rivaled by very few other games. If you want better graphics, go outside. If you want to take over Calradia, play Mount and Blade.

Looks like the NPCs have some sort of standard behaviour during sieges (use siege equipment, go clear that tower etc). Will it still be possible to command parts of your army during sieges (for instance, make your archers form a line under the ramparts instead of using the siege equipments)? If so, will it be possible to put them back to their original task (using the siege equipment) ? What about performance? Eg, will we still be limited to waves of 60-200 units at a time (depending on your machine) or has there been some changes? I have to say, the wave system, where dozens of units spawned at the same time, kinda sucked in MB1.

it would depend on the engine and what hardware can handle it. if u play on a patato your limit is most likely 50-100. on a decent machine like mine probably 300-400. and IF your rich probably 700 or something in that direction. but then again it mostly depends on the engine as that would be the biggest thing to limit it. so judging by the fact that they got a new engine but also by the fact graphics and physics are much more hardware intense i would probably say 400 max but still configurable to 600 if u got the right hardware tho. i mean we dont all have a rig with 64gb 3000mhz ram, gtx 1080 (2 way sli) and a 8core 4.5ghz cpu.

In medieval times castles where small and in real life they would sometimes only have a few people (like 10!) defending them against a much larger force with succes. Castles are really hard to capture in real life. You have to understand that feeding the people in the castle gets problematic when sieged, so less people is preferred so you can hold out longer and wait for reinforcements. Castles where build so there are very few points of entry and the ones that are present are very easily defended by a few people. It is going to be a bit different ingame ofcourse, for balancing and gameplay reasons.

Looks incredible. Only thing i could "whine" about would be the swing animations, they look pretty stale. When you swing with force the body has to go with the swing aswell to deliver a hard blow. maybe theyll get around and work on that ^^

It's nice to see sieges aren't going to devolve into a massive brawl over a single choke point, although the gatehouse defense mechanics could have been done better. For example the attackers break down the first and are about to break down the second gate, when 2 iron gates drop down from both sides trapping the attackers in the portcullis (leaving them at the mercy of the defenders archer, boiling oil or big rock being dropped on top of them).

Godddd this looks so great. It's all the little things they improved from Warband. Placing your siege equipment, troop placement, destructible merlons, kicking soldiers off battlements (I know it was possible in Warband but you're a god if you could get it off in a battle on one of those), actually getting up and down hills like a able-bodied person, defenders actually DEFENDING not just stacking up and entries and having archers take no cover and just blindly fire, the murder holes, everything. This video alone makes being on either end of a siege in Bannerlord look fun as hell and I cannot wait for this game to come out.
