Nice hike, Alex. Beautiful area. Those fires have been bad. Glad they are letting up some. Nice virtual tent! Haha. That boardwalk section on the side of the cliff was awesome!!! Glad you didn't crap yourself with the trail workers. Haha. Holy stairs! Wow, quite the workout. Awesome views from the top. This trail had a bit of everything. Loved it! Have a great day.

Thanks a lot. Was hard but so much fun. The avalanche pass is known to be one of the best trais in the area. Was super fun. Take care 😊

No joke my 8th grade health class did this hike and the health teacher took off whizzing Miles ahead. Said "follow the signs" to 30 13 year Olds. This was the 1980s. Most turned around for the bus at the Loj but a few of us forged ahead.

Indeed, even here in Nova Scotia, the fires have been brutal...came within 5 km of my place, so had the bags packed and Otis ready just incase. Such a great area...love the walkway on the rock wall...and a stairway to heaven...pretty cool. Take good care and have a great weekend! Bruce and Otis

Love the boardwalks especially the one around the rock. Another place that reminds me of Grandfather with the ladders and the views from up top. Great video Alex!

I was impress the wooden path, is it slippery when wet? Gorgeous hinke in the forest. Nice camping ground .
@paddle_hike Жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot... Yes, it can be but you have guard rail just in case. The rocks and stairs are more slippery when wet.

Challenging stairs for sure- and quite a bit of Mud! I liked all the boulders in the creek, and wow, that boardwalk around the rock face at lake was Insane! Good that you just saw deer and not a family of bears... beautiful scenery from the top!! Nice one Alex!! :)

Hi there, we are planning to hike this trail with our dog this long weekend. Based on some reviews I read from AllTrail, it seems that the climb is steep and a lot of rock scramble (section called Trap Dike?). Do you think dog (~70lb golden) can hike the climbing part? Thank you.
@paddle_hike8 ай бұрын
It is very steep and rocky. Some dogs can do it but at this moment it's also possible to find some ice and wet surfaces. I didn't hike this way I did it via avalanche pass (it's pretty much the same length) "colden via avalanche pass" AllTrails. Which is still not easy but less risky. There are always safer ways .. Trap dyke is known to be hard, Not as hard but close to Saddleback cliffs

Great hike! I want to hike more in the Adirondacks, I did Marcy 15 years ago but it’s been a long time. I’ve hiked a bunch in the White Mountains and those trails can be very rocky. Do the Adirondack trails get as rocky? They seem to be tamer though I know they have plenty of their own difficulty I’m sure.

@@UncleTravelingMatt2thanks a lot 😊.I find the adk more wooded and rugged than the whites. I completed all the adk46 and most challenges and I have 7 left in the whites. The whites can be Rocky but they are less technical in my opinion. There's always difficult ones on each sides for sure.... But they are fun
@UncleTravelingMatt220 күн бұрын
@ Good to know! I don’t remember Marcy being very technical or very rock, just long it was 14 miles. I was also 23 at the time though. Washington this year was a much bigger challenge mainly because of the boulders. Or it could be I’m getting older! Rocky trails in the Whites are sort of unique to that location I think. I don’t see it in the Berkshires or Catskills either.

@@UncleTravelingMatt2 indeed, wash is harder than Marcy but Saddleback cliffs was the hardest I've done... So it all depends on the trail you take, weather etc but both are amazing peaks
@UncleTravelingMatt220 күн бұрын
@ Definitely depends on the hike. I’d love to do Colden this coming year, and the Wright-Algonquin-Iroquois hike on Algonquin Trail. Just look incredible but I’m trying to get more familiar with what they entail.

@@UncleTravelingMatt2 they are amazing mountains and you'll have a blast. Just pick a good day for that... they aren't easy.
