Hello from the UK Beck, thanks for sharing this. Love the looks of this hike and we are intrigued by the Fire tower! Can see why is its needed tho, looks so dry! We get occasional moor fire in the UK, some controlled fires, some caused by idiots without an idea of how to respect the outdoors. Thanks for this, Ceri and Kat ❤👍☕

Haha yeah, those firetowers are unique and can offer some great views as well! We haven't had any bad fires in the past few years thankfully, but agreed, it isn't fun when people don't respect the outdoors and cause forest fires! Glad you guys enjoyed it and hope you have a good weekend ahead!

Nice little hike. We have a really big nature park area within walking distance of our house and we've gone over there plenty of times and felt very disappointed. Never know sometimes when you read about a "great hike" and it turns out to be a "small dirt path" 😂. Hey at least you were able to get out and get some fresh air!

Looked to me you had an encounter with a ruffed grouse. Those things will sit still until you get close and burst into flight making all kind of noise. They have definitely taken time off my lifespan. They always scare the crap out of me!... We have lots of bicycle trails around here too. They're always the best kept of all trails. They keep them smooth and don't like limbs slapping them in the face. But the bikes come up on you fast and they're quiet too. I've came close to having collisions with them a few times. When a rider hollers at you just get out of the trail fast! Too bad you didn't get the view, but as our friend Jim Hayes once told me there are only good hikes and better hikes. I believe he's right about that.

I think it was an Owl. They are common in Western North Carolina Mountains. They often dont fly away until you are almost on top of them. Been startled by one a couple weeks ago at Hanging Dog.

I don’t know what it is about trails with bridges, I was on one today, I really like ‘em. They give the trail personality. Great trail. I’ve been startled on the trail before. Usually, it’s a snake or once it was a very large bison. No that biking thing did not look fun. It looked scary. 😂😂. Sometimes the trails can be confusing. Even without the spectacular view, it was still a nice hike.

Me too brother, we getting some spring weather here next week! On the left arm on the inner part is a tattoo that is about my father & I, I was raised by just my mother while my father was bad into drugs for all of my life so it is about me moving past him going forward in life while he is at the bottom of the steps because of the decisions he made. On my right arm in the inner part is just a mountains tattoo with the sun and on the outside is a tattooed showing three people who are my mother myself and my sister who is all we had growing up.

The bird might have been a grouse. They call them "Thunderbirds" because of all the racket they make when they flush. Sometimes you almost have to step on them before they fly and they rise almost straight up in flight. Fun games birds to hunt and excellent eating.

Love exploring other parts of the world so would love it. Just wish id started this channel years ago cus I could have had some awesome footage on here haha. Oh well never to late I suppose. Thank you so much! Well the 29th of this month a few restrictions are going to ease off so I will be able to travel a bit into the hills / mountains and get back to my original content.
