I don’t think it was pushing her limits that brought about her end, but them separating in a wilderness they’re not familiar with. It’s vitally important to never leave your comrade behind, no matter what condition you both think you have. Even at that altitude, exhaustion can mess up your thought process, especially when severely dehydrated.

I think the original photo was retouched. Granite wears (from weather) about an inch every 10,000 years. Mt. Rushmore, also granite, should last several million years. If someone wants to see Holy Cross, they can see it from their car by driving up Vail Pass and then turning on Shrine Pass rd. It (was) in decent shape, gravel. It's a snowmobile trail in the winter.
