We started out from Puerto de la Cruz because that's where we were staying, then headed towards la Orotava because we were meeting family in that area, then upward to El Teide. A magnificent day full of stunning views. I will return.

The roads in Tenerife are in great condition. The hills area challenge if you are afraid of heights...just don't look off to the side if you are the driver. I was the driver and had to keep my eyes on the road. We were there in late Sept 2019. It was a hot day but bearable. I loved being there. It looked like a moonscape. You are NOT ALLOWED to take any of the rocks with you, but there are shops that sell trinkets and pottery made out of the volcanic rocks.

Nice place, great views. Good vlog :) Didn't know it was the highest point in Spain. Height of 7,500 m (24,600 ft) above sea level makes Teide the third-highest volcano in the world, and the summit (at 3,715 m (12,188 ft). Crazy.

10:47 I went to Rocky Mountains National Park in Colorado and Great Smokey Mountains National Park in Tennessee. You are right, the roads are curvy there also. Rocky Mountain NP looks similar, except no ocean in sight, elevation is higher and peaks are snowcapped even during the summertime. I even saw a baby moose and mom at Rocky Mountain NP.

thanks for showing off one of my happy places, shame you didn't get to ride the cable car to the top, you would have been shocked by the absolute silence on the peak, there wasn't a sound, and the air felt quite thin! people should note that as you can see here there is practically zero walking from the base to the top of the cable car so don't be put off by the idea of a climb, it's very accessible. Nice video, visited Tenerife this year which was a fun and nice relaxing holiday, went up Mount Teide which was & is a good attraction & beautiful national park to see. Would love to go back and experience it all over again aswell get more photography & videography. Cable car on our visit was open & in operation, but didn't go up it as thought got a good view & experience down bottom. Maybe one day on a future visit go up top? But shall have to see, noticed you made three mistakes in video a.k.a bloopers, but recovered good I though, but bit of feedback maybe could of removed those bloopers and edited like Florida Gatwick video, kept video without any mistakes like other videos. We all make mistakes, but just think could of in my opinion edited that out, kept it out. But apart from that nice video & vlog, by the way did you notice any planes coming into land while up there? As you were all above the clouds? Reason I asked is because when approaching on our Easyjet flight out, we actually saw Teide above clouds before descending into Tenerife South airport which offers some amazing views from above clouds then. Just wondering if you managed to get any pictures or videos of that when arriving into Tenerife? Because I saw it, but didn't as far as I know get any pictures? Nice vlog by the way, enjoyed and look forward to seeing more in future. Will be by the way uploading my photos & videos to channel in future from my holiday to the island. WOW!! Thank you Shawn for this trip, it is bringing back all the memories of my 2nd holiday(the 1st i can fully remember). We took the cable cars up in the 90s as a 12yr old they was very scary looking down at the rock face. We took a excursion tour from our hotel, they told us loads of facts of the surrounding areas. The only one i can remember is, the original Planet Of The Apes movies was filmed in the area of Mnt Tiede.

I thought Planet of the Apes (1968) film was filmed there but doing a goggle search it said they used parts of Tenerife but not there. Clash of the Titans (2010) was filmed on mount teide though. U have brought back fond memories, I rember going wen I was about 13 with my mum , step dad brother and sister. They all went up the cable cars I didn’t. My step dad was so determined to do the cable cars we went up 3 times, the first 2 it was too windy for the cable cars. 3rd time lucky. It was the days before internet so we had no way of checking for updates. It was about 1991/92 I went.

Very awesome videos Shawn I really enjoyed the tour. I like how the terrain is constantly changed. It was all brown and then you went around a turn and the mountain peaks were totally green. Very cool. I don't know if you've ever been to the Florida Keys? You'll see some huge lizards there 😆 truly almost as big as the visitors center one.. The amazing thing about the views from the top is you can see the main resort area to the south of the island which is very rocky, then looking north side you can see just how green the island is with the trees etc. There's also a great feeling on top where the air is thinner. You feel almost light headed and if you race around get quite dizzy. Wonderful place. The sad thing we found is there's a lot of dogs that have been dumped there to roam free which is quite sad. They filmed Planet of the Apes in this area such is the beauty of the landscape. The last time we were there, such is the climate difference on top of the mountain, people were bringing snowmen down on their bonnets into the main resort of Costa Adeje, obviously partly melted but it just shows it can get very cold on top with all the snow.

While it is indeed great fun to go camping here, be very mindful of where its legal and what's allowed. That barbecue is probably a very bad idea so make sure you only do that at designated sites. The Canary Islands are extremely dry and very vulnerable to forest fires. I believe starting one, even by accident, will get you a lengthy jail sentence, just because how dangerous they are in such a dry climate.

What an amazing family you are and l love your enthusiasm for El Teide. Can I just ask your viewers to please, please do not bring campervans and BBQs into the park. The ecoclimate up there deserves better. I often get the Titsa bus up, the 340 from the beautiful city of Puerto de la Cruz (which you described as the Loro Parque area). Costs 13 euro return and will drop you off at the vision center, Teleferico or Parador. I think there is going to be a push to ban private cars in the park altogether and for the adoption of a park and ride type scheme to limit the impact so many visitors have on the fragile area.
