We have a HUGE field in the village of Spondon in Derby in the UK behind the Asda, we have never metal detected but it would be a good place to do in Edit: It is not private land, you get loads of people on there .

Most of those would have permission or are doing illegally, you can’t just go on public land. Everywhere is owned by someone.

Unfortunately he would need to obtain permission from the landowners which is not as easy as you think. It’s a great hobby when you find some good land though!

Shawn I live in Pensacola Florida USA and the sugar white sand could be a great place to use a metal detector. If you ever get another chance to come to Florida you try and make it to the panhandle of Florida. Pensacola to Panama City Beach. With a stops in Panama City Beach, Destin and Pensacola Beach Florida. There lots of things to do here.

There are loads of metal detecting groups around the West Midlands area. I work with a guy who’s in a few different groups, you can find them on Facebook. He recently found a gold necklace which he weighed in for £350! If you need any more information just let me know.

Why? A lot of detectorists will try to reunite finds if valuable. Not all are doing it to make money... you won’t get very far if you do.
