Mountain Banjo (Red Dead Redemption 2) - Clawhammer Banjo

Just finished Red Dead Redemption 2 for the gazillionth time. This song by Rhiannon Giddens encapsulates the vibe of the game perfectly 🪕
I tried playing this song earlier but it just didn't work on a 'regular' banjo. When the credits rolled yesterday I tried it on my fretless and suddenly it clicked. Great tune, great game. Check it out!

The style is called clawhammer. I’ve been trying to learn it myself. There are lots of tutorials online but it mostly just takes lots of practice

Unfortunately I never use tabs so I can't make one.. Tune your banjo to sawmill (gDGCD) and alternate between the second and third frets on the third and fourth string. You will get the basic melody real quick! Good luck

This version is close to original..I have seen other fingerstyle covers of this song on KZbin but they all skip the additional notes ...i think this song was made only for a banjo..

I agree! It sounds very much like a jam on the OST of Red Dead. I think it's just that, a banjo tuned in sawmill and some improvisation
