Some of the prettiest banjo notes I've ever heard. Almost brings tears. It's the chord progression, too.

That's a beautiful tone. Is that a fiberskin head? And what style of tailpiece are you using? I recently tried some La Bella nylgut strings for the first time and my tone sounds really muddy and cheap sounding. I think it's because all I have to play on is a Washburn B10 with the resonator removed and I had to replace the stock tailpiece with a cheap no-knot because the break angle would snap the nylgut strings even when I tuned it really low. I'm thinking I just need to get a Pisgah but I was really hoping I could get a decent-ish old-timey tone on my Washburn. I got it when I first started and was learning scruggs style but quickly fell in love with clawhammer. It was the only banjo in the music store. Sadly, music stores should just be called "guitar" stores now since that's all they stock..

Thanks. Fiberskyn head, No-Knot tailpiece on this one. I think putting a natural skin head on it would have been a better choice. Driving a few hundred miles to play a selection of decent banjos (which I did before choosing this banjo) is well worth the trip, imo.

Wow!!! Beautiful!!! Did you record the guitar / bass? Again, simply beautiful music being played here!

Thanks Galen. The instrumentation is provided through an app called Strummachine, developed and maintained by multi-instrumentalist Luke Abbott. It has a Community forum, and a good number of preexisting tracks. You can modify any of them or create new ones if there isn’t already one available. Tempo, key and other elements can be adjusted on the fly. You can find several videos presenting it here on yt..

@@steveallerton9124 I just discovered this app over the weekend. Highly recommend for anyone trying to play along. You adjust the kay and the speed and they have all these old time tunes already programmed.

You must own one of those banjos where only melodious notes are allowed to be played. Unfortunately, I own a banjo where the opposite is true.

Do you have the Tab for this? Beautiful!
@steveallerton91242 жыл бұрын
No, but Brad Kolodner may have one (though I don't see it listed on his website).

Is there an available tab ?
@steveallerton9124 Жыл бұрын
You might check with Brad Kolodner, whose arrangement I modeled this one after. I learned by watching his video here on KZbin, and listening to his recording on "Chimney Swifts."
