Being one to carry loose Allen it does appeal to me. The balls can be critical and you don't usually see those on multitools. That one intrigued me the most in the video. Shaft length is important. Please, no jokes...

I like the topeak mini 9 as it weighs in at 92g, has 2-8 mm and a t25. I really don't want to be carrying around anything more than I need. I don't work on my bike with my multi-tool I just fix things on the trail with it. I've adjusted brake calipers on the trail without problems. I have a full toolbox, bike stand, full size pump in my car most of the time. I haven't broken a chain in 3 years, but that's the only thing I think I could add to my kit.

I think your tool and maybe add a few things if one wants is a good choice. I sort of just want loose or fold out Allen and torque, an 8x10mm wrench and a small stand alone chain breaker. I'm intrigued by a combination chain pliers/breaker I've seen but you've got to stop somewhere...

The best tools are the ones you bring with you. Figure out what sizes your bike has the most bolts of and make sure the tool you have works. Look at your rear derailleur, makes sure you have that shimano or SRAM tool, they don’t use the same one.

I like the Topeak light kit with their chain tool added. I also will bring a Gerber multi tool on longer rides or places where help is not an option. You guys ever review first aide kits? Im a total trail dad.

I would recommend watching something by a paramedic or similar on first aid, for the same reason I watch bike tool videos from people who use bike tools on a regular basis

Leatherman type tools that have a bit driver and buying the bits you need is a strategy if you're not weight conscious. I carry a Skeletool a lot anyway so buying the bit extension and bits for my bike is a way of handling Allen and Torx needs up to a point. I have regular bike tools now but I could eliminate some this way and have pliers along too. Also I usually carry a knife so the bike multitools that have a knife don't appeal to me. A separate folding knife that weighs 1 or 2 ounces isn't hard to find or carry. Also I'm often carrying my Skeletool, which with an extension can drive normal hex bits... Some knife bases tools without pliers can drive bits too.

I had the multi tool, but It didn't have chain pliers and my weak hands couldn't get the chain master link on by hand. Luckily someone else was prepared. cheers!

We love that more brands are offering on board tool storage and it’s definitely great way to make sure you never forget to pack one! However some are bare essentials, which are great for local rides and if you’ve got a dialed bike, but these are options for riders who may be new to riding and don’t quite have an idea on if they need a mega tool or something slimmer and smaller. On board tools are great though! Love em

humble opinion - best multitool: victorinox with an additional 10mm socket. its the lighest yet the most usable which is a rare thing - because it has a proper allen key and you can even choose which bits you need for your bike. super easy to use too.

It's actually called the PB Swiss Biketool. They do produce it for Victorinox too but it's just branding, as it is manufactured by PB Swiss.

For me its the fix it sticks every time. There's always plenty of torque, length in tool, and choice. the kit can be expanded or knocked down per your needs for the ride or bike. Fix it sticks and forget it!
