For the longest time I believed the "wheelie gene" was real. Finally, I got so frustrated I decided to practice every day until I could do it. I didn't realize until then, that my practice was never consistent and focused, and once it was the improvements started to happen. It took about two months of very focused daily practice but finally at 40 years old I can wheelie pretty much forever. It took me a lot longer than some people, and maybe faster than others, but once I got it who cares how long it took!

This kind of tutorial is amazing. No cheap talking, just the important things. I'm over 40, and learning to wheelie and looking for learning manuals, someday. My wheelies sucks. BUT, one day I was pedalling over tall grass and could keep a wheelie for several meters, because of the high rolling resistance of the grass. That was a special moment! When YOU have the experience that IT EXISTS and CAN BE DONE, it's a mind blowing thing. I use this idea when teach young kids learning to ride their bikes without those tiny baby wheels: I talk about "finding the balance point", center them on the bike and drop the bike for 1 or 2 seconds, so they FEEL that there is really a point that the bike could keep itself up, flying over the balance point. Their minds then open and now they believe. Same when you're 40... cheers :)

However, if you watch the end of a road race, especially sprint everyone congratulates the winner not just his team. Rant over, now I need to find a morning with no kids and no rain and I'll try and crack wheelies in my 40's. Thanks for the tips.

This is a great channel! I'll be 63 in a couple of months and I'm psyched to knuckle down and learn how to bunny hop and improve my wheelies. Thanks for the fun lessons!

I could wheelie very well when I was a teenager. I am now 48 on a full suspension 2021 Jamis Portal A2 and you guys have inspired me to get out there and wheelie again.

I love your channel and there's synergy; I ride a unicycle, road and mountain bike. I'm mountain biking more because I took a car strike 7/9/23 while mending from a broken tibular plateau ski racing 1/9/23. I'm watching all your videos, of course, and I'll be riding a wheelie and popping some of my drops, thank you.

DUUUUUUDE AWESOME! I actually had goosebumps when he nailed it, because I did too about two weeks ago at age 38. I must say: with your video, I would have done it not in two years but more in two weeks! Exceptionally good narrative and explanation! The age and experience that comes with that shows in a good way! Subscribed. :)

Couldn’t wheelie from 4 to 18 y/o. Stopped biking for almost 20 yrs and restarted 2 years ago and now I can wheelie, manual and all around shred way harder than when I was a kid. Great video! Nice breakdown
