Generally speaking, yes. It's not as rocky/technical/steep as some other places in Austin, but it does have its spots. A hardtail is definitely sufficient here. It may benefit you to ride with someone who is familiar with the trails. They are multidirectional and shared with hikers and dogs (though in this extreme heat traffic was low, even on the weekend). It's also extremely dry and dusty right now, which can affect traction and the bike needed a good cleaning afterwards. All that said, I think it's a common park for beginner MTBers in town as well as all skill levels. It was one of the first places I rode when I got my first MTB.

@@kenny91087 Your thumbs are not wrapping the bars. One big mis-timed front end hit, and you will be eating the stem.
