Brand new rider here, loving your content. I’m glad the first thing I did was get a coach, as my husband tried to “correct” many things that I was doing right (by dumb luck) and he was doing wrong. Don’t use your front break, knees in, and you have your front heel down rear heel up instead of perfectly flat “as they should be” and get back on the bike going downhill, and squat don’t hinge, being the big tips he tried to give me that my coach and you, disagreed with. I went on one ride with him before getting a coach and fell three times! At least now I know why, thanks to your amazing content!

hehe thank you so much for sharing, Azarial! This is (unfortunately) very common - a typical example of mansplaining ;-) Of course, there are exceptions and some guys are REALLY GREATA coaches, but I do hear it the way you wrote it, quite often. So happy to hear you got a coach and are now here to get more! Enjoy riding and have fun :-) Roxy

@@robertrenfrow8621 totally relatable, Robert. You just decide what’s important to you and then make up your mind 😊 If you’re fine riding at the level you’re riding at, your focus is riding, but want to keep ingraining potential riding errors you may already have with every ride - then just keep riding. If you want to invest a title time now and have MUCH more fun in the long run: start the courses 😊 2x20 minutes practice per week or even 10 min is all it takes to make a big difference. It's all about slow speed skills. If you have them, you can ride almost anything with complete control and confidence. The problem that I see, which prevents many riders from developing slow speed control, is modern mountain bikes are too good. They've been designed with such skill that they allow riders to ride with terrible technique. I believe most new riders would be better off learning to ride on a fully rigid mtb from the 1990's. You can't cheat on one of those. If you want to ride smooth, you've got to develope the skills to make that happen. New bikes make riding too comfortable and easy. Riders don't develope many basic techniques because the bikes don't force them. Old bikes were terrible. If you didn't want to die, you had to learn how to ride with skill.
@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Jerome! Totally agreed. Plus, many many videos promote a „shred culture“ and „loose riders“ style, which unfortunately sometimes leads to people thinking it’s „cooler“ to Ride fast before being able to ride slow and in control….
@jeromewest57042 жыл бұрын
@@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire I totally agree. I also think the shred culture that the mtb industry promotes hurts the sport because many people see the crazy stunts professional riders perform and never consider riding mountain bikes because they think it's all about "sending it." I'm surrounded by unhealthy, unfit, sedentary people. I've told them about all the physical and mental benefits of riding in the woods and not convinced one person to give it a try. They go to the sports bar, watch Redbull Rampage on the television while eating their chicken wings and think we're all crazy.
