It's interesting that you said "Some magic out here." My wife and I backpacked up Greens Creek for an overnight trip years ago and forgot to bring spoons. After eating a dinner of pasta using sticks with the bark peeled off as chopsticks, we went for a walk around the campsite and found two stainless steel spoons in perfect condition. The find not only made the next morning's oatmeal much easier to eat, but it really made me think that there is a higher power. I've brought one of those spoons with me to work or school just about every day for the past 17 years.

I was off KZbin for a while ,I went elk hunting in Montana ,then had a lot of work to catch up on when I got back. I just caught up with all your videos of sept today ,I recieved the "red" shirt already. You do know oatmeal ,beer and whiskey is the breakfast of champions ! Awesome ride you guys were flying the rocks looked like a blur! I didn't comment on your other videos but they were all cool and very scenic, bummer on your back wheel , but hey now you have some better ones. The breathing sound you heard of an animal may have been deer snort warning when they are startled and alert the other deer in the area. Also mountain lions I have seen 3 so far in the last 16 years they are very elusive but it's fast glimpse as they disappear in woods. The day you see one will be pretty awesome experience . Excellent videos as usual 👍

Copy that Brian... makes sense. Hey, wanted you to know that I found your channel when I was researching the Santa Cruz Hightower to purchase. Your video on it helped that decision along. I eventually demoed a Hightower 27.5 Plus, fell in love, and bought one. I got a 29er wheel set(I9 Trail S) for it too and equally love that set up. If you ever get a chance to demo a Hightower 29er, do yourself a favor. I think you'll enjoy the ride. Peace!

I really don't have enough miles on 29ers to say. The Ibis Ripley ride in Oregon didn't give me enough to feel the bike out. This ride gave me a ton of fun stuff to feel the bike out and it was great. Ya gotta try to get some test rides on your local trails. It's worth it to know for yourself.

Hey Brian, great video! I've been a fan of your videos and have been watching since you had around 500 subs. First of all, really enjoyed this last video. Loved the banter between you two and the length of the ride and epic quality of the scenery make it worth the price of $.25 per video. This last video has me seriously contemplating sponsoring your channel. Good job. Second, I wanted to share how much living vicariously through your recorded adventures has helped me recently. The love of my life passed away recently after a two year long struggle with brain cancer. Toward the end of her battle, I retired my ten year old Blur and built up my dream bike: Ibis Ripley LS ( not a fan of your Oregon Ibis impression by the way - ;) )with full XTR, Hadley hubs, Chris King headset, Next SL G4 cranks, you name it, it's probably on there. It sat in the garage while I tended to my love's needs but, when she slept, I often would load your channel and watch you ride "the greatest trails in the world" as a form of escape and pleasure during an otherwise challenging time. I wanted to thank you for that as it was, often, a tremendous relief to be able to experience the trail and allow my worries and angst to slip away for a few moments. Thank you. Lastly, I live in Prescott, AZ and I've seen three mountain lions over the past 12 years. Never on my bike thankfully, but once hiking on a trail I've frequently ridden. I had just passed through a narrow, foliage filled gully and, for reasons unknown, I decided to stop, take off my pack and turn around. Not twenty seconds later a big cat comes right out of that ravine and is trotting at a good pace about forty-five degrees obliquely away from me. It made me freeze with terror and immediately got that electric endocrine dump down my spine. It's tail alone was thicker than my leg. It's said we have one of the highest concentrations of wild Cougars in the Western Hemisphere in this area. The Prescott national forest terrain and large slabs of granite make for a perfect habitat. At any rate, thanks again for your quality channel, amiable personality and adventurous videos. I'll definitely keep watching and spreading the word. We have excellent riding in Prescott and are just a short drive from Sedona and Flagstaff. You should head out this way sometime. I recently rode Mescal and Chuckwagon with your videos as my impetus to get out there and enjoy life. Hope to see you one day out on the trail. Matt

Thanks so much for the nice note, Matthew, it really touched me. It's amazing that my videos could have such an impact on you in such a difficult time. Your bike sounds amazing, I hope you're getting out on it as much as you can! Sedona is at the top of my list. How's the riding out there in November? Can you shoot me an email bk@bk-xc.com with an idea of some great trails to ride in AZ during the winter?

Any bike suggestions that are kind of budget? I bike through Ute Valley in Colorado Springs if you know the place. (You should check the place out some time). Anyways, I need a new bike that's along the line of budget and meant for trail riding?
@bkxc

I definitely should check out Colorado Springs! Ask your local bike shop, they'll be the experts on a good budget trail bike.

I want to ride this trail..don't have many friends with fs bikes..I have 120mm should be ok..how can I go and ride it in a group?
@bkxc
@bkxc 8 жыл бұрын
This was a double-black diamond trail, so you'd need to make sure you've got your skills built up. But then you can ride with a group if you get a shuttle from Absolute Bikes in Salida.

I am right there with you on wanting to see a mountain lion. I have seen tons of footprints and carcasses out on trails both in CA and in Oregon but I have yet to see the actual beast. I'm pretty sure I'll scream when I finally see one.
