Steve yes the helmets you mention are better. I use the super2r because where I live it's 100 to 105deg. From May till august so I need the vents that come with the helmet or my head will melt ! Haha! Also I don't do any serious jumps and such like when I was younger, so for me the helmet offers the extra front protection and cooling for hot summers. The Troy Lee are some top notch helmets though love the graphics too.

Are you still using the tiny screws to attach the included GoPro attachment adapter to the gimbal, and then taking it apart to pack up again? I just tried this cool 1/2" adapter today with mine, and it was really solid and super nice to attach and remove.
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting, yeah I'm still using the standard hardware. Can you shoot me a link? bk@bk-xc.com
@fauxfreshness77288 жыл бұрын
Sent. And it's a 1/4" adapter, not the 1/2" one. There are a bunch of versions, so you just have to get the correct tab count to fit whatever you need to adapt between. My most recent gear fiddling was getting a couple NANUCK cases (think Pelican cases) for my portable Apogee One and FiiO audio gear. And then pluck/pull all the "right" foam. That's still taking a while...
@AJ-we9kd8 жыл бұрын
Hi, I've been following your channel for a while. Big thumbs up on the content, attitude, and direction your taking this channel. I would recommend organizing destination videos and bike review videos. I feel a trail video needs additional info like recommended loops, food, hotels, how much it would cost for a weekend long trip etc. Gimbal speed has been talked about, I don't think it can be changed easily, without either being a newer one with the software to support it, or ripping it apart and searching for a trim screw. I find that it's more noticeable in some videos, and not so obvious in others. I have to say this is your best video, and for me one of the best mountain biking video I have seen. I've always wanted to know what this trail is like, and I'm in the market for a new bike. It's really impressive how you took a bad situation like your bikes being stolen to building a great channel, possibly starting a new career, traveling to new places, and finding a killer new bike. Not to mention you will have demoed more bikes than most in the bike industry. I've sold my 29er hardtail a few months ago, in search for a bike that fits me better and that I can ride longer, faster and harder on. I'm 5'9.5", I like the feeling you describe about sizing up, but I also value maneuverability to lean and wheelie. If the sizing is just slightly larger, stability at slow speed is significantly sacrificed for me. Can I message you directly for recommendations on new and used bikes? The only bike I've ridden and have been blown away by was the pipeline so far (the small fit better than the M thunderbolt BC with 785mm bars). Pipeline is probably overkill but feels like I'm riding on rails. I really need a bike I can ride comfortably for 2-3 hours on the weekends. The full suspension xc bikes I demoed didn't offer nearly as much cushion as I thought, most likely saddle preference over suspension setup. This might be the reason I see people on 130-150mm suspension bikes on our "smooth" trails compared to this fine trail :)
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words, dude! I agree about throwing in some more info about the trails to give a person something to go off of. I always have a link in the description to even more detailed info. The gimbal technology will evolve and I'll keep up with it as it does. Don't overthink it, dude. Just test ride a couple bikes and then GET ONE. It's about having fun, not the paralysis of analysis!!!
@AJ-we9kd8 жыл бұрын
That's definitely what's happening too many options. Issue is demo season is over in NY. I will need to wait till Spring for more demos. Bike shops mostly offer hybrids for demos.
@rogerarmendariz38108 жыл бұрын
That was great ride , I have never seen your bars bounce that much looked rough. I use the Bell Super2R it's like 2 helmets in one with removable chin guard . You do know you could have had a free helmet if you said shot a couple snot rockets !! Joking aside that trail looked steep and some great views I can only imagine the cool trails👍

Hahaha, shoulda marked my territory with a few boogers! I have seen those chin guard helmets and they look pretty good! Thanks for the love!

Bell super 2r is a good helmet but the chinbar is not dh rated, so if he already has a good half shell I would just get a good downhill certified full face like the bell transfer or Troy lee designs d1.

Here's a question I always wanted to ask but keep forgetting. When you take your bike with you on vacation, where do you store it? I can see it not really being a problem with a small motel, but what about big resort hotels like the one at the end of your video? They have a bike storage facility, or you're allowed to take it to your room? Also, assuming you get all dirty and muddy, do you carry spare clothes/shoes etc or just trek right thru the lobby straight from the trails? Also, assuming they let you store the bike in your room, do you roll it or carry it? Basically, I'm just looking for what is proper bicycle ettiqute when taking it with you on vacation?
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Many hotels in Whistler have a bike room and you check your bike. It was a really good service! If it's raining then I'm usually not riding, so who knows how you'd deal with a muddy bike!
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Oh, in other hotel rooms I usually roll the bike in but try not to alert anyone because it's probably not allowed to keep your bike in your room.

Your videos just keep getting better! A newbie question, how much are you actually changing gear on a ride like this?
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Changing gears, like shifting? Hard to say on such a long ride, I think the best answer is constantly. It's just another part of putting yourself in the best possible position to keep moving smoothly.

Yes, I meant shifting - thanks for the reply and keep up the great work!

On a scale of one to ten how hard would you say the trail was from the peak? Some trails are made to look easy from rider cams and I don't want to get caught too far out of my comfort level. I'm from Seth's channel also. Subscribed. Great Video!
