Just found your channel and subscribed today. I just started mountain biking again this summer and have seriously caught the fever. It's great to just be out there alone with the trail or with a few good friends. And when you're done with the ride it's such an awesome feeling...usually a beer or two after is nice as well. Looking forward to more content and bike/gear reviews!

That is real north shore riding at its best. The climbs, descents, massive rock features, built wooden features, and the crazy switch backs. Glad you loved it and survived the pain. Well worth it I bet. I am itching to go back to BC for another bike trip, it's been 14 years for me since I have been there last.

Oh I am planning on it in the next few years as family commitments ease up a bit. I live in Ontario so I ride all the great trails I can here, the closest I get to big mountain riding is Quebec as most of the epic rides like Mount St. Ann is 6 to 9 hours drive for me. You have to try East Coast Canada trails some real nice ones for sure.

Quick question for you. I haven't gone through ALL of the comments on your videos but I was wondering what PSI you run in your tires. I know there are several variables but on a trail like Comfortably Numb what would you find yourself riding. I usually find myself in the mid to high 20's. It's always a hot topic of debate within our group. I'm off to Patreon to make sure we have more of your awesome videos to watch through the cold, Canadian winter.

I'm so inspired and impressed with your skills. I'm 61 and did a fair bit of MTB biking in my 30 and 40's all old school hard tails 26's. I thought I was fairly good but could have never in my prime took on that trail. I'm now back into it again and upgraded to a 27.5 hard tail and love it compared to my old 26's. Now I'm wanting to go full supension but still researching and the wife thinks I'm insane to spend that kind of money and my best days are behind me. I've seen how much the tech helps but you still have to have the skills. I'm now only riding 6 to 10 miles rides here in north GA which is nice and rolling hills to the foothills of the north GA Mts. I just recently went clippless too. It helps but I still get kind of nervous on the more tech stuff. May I ask which clippless you use? I went crank brothers with a platform. I love the way you talk while riding even if I could ride that I would be breathing so hard no way I could talk.

What gear are you using? Full Face Helmet? Any body protection. I know you are not going that fast, but there are some gnarly rocks and little falls. Especially when you are riding alone..What are you riding 29er FS or HTail?
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
8:23, spandex and a normal helmet. Definitely a calculated risk, you have a good point. I think my biggest enemy that day was the heat, and being armored up would have made it tougher. That said, I try to ride in control at all times and rarely push myself out of my comfort zone, which also hurts my riding as I'm not progressing and getting as good as I should be. Lots of different pieces to balance.

I was wondering with your experience would Bronson handle it. Btw. Awesome videos.
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын

Man, I tried to record with the hyperlapse app on my iphone se on my chestie mount over the weekend, and it was an EPIC fail! App froze multiple times, light saturation issues, and overall too bumpy to upload on youtube. I think the stabilization on the app is fine for quick videos while walking, but not good enough for mountain biking. A gopro and gimbal are on my christmas list this year though, can't wait to share the trails of Richmond VA!

My first time riding CN I broke my Marzocchi 55s(double stanchion failure) 12 km in on the uphill step section. Thankfully it was an uphill section otherwise I would've been sponsored by a cosmetic surgeon. Unfortunately I had to hike the other 13km with my front wheel and fork remains zip tied to my Camelback. A rude introduction to a great trail. After some new forks it became my favourite trail in Whistler. Outerbike is now Thinbike and run by true dirt lovers. Big shout out to Grant Lamont at Whistler Bike Guides.

I rode this solo in 2018 after a bunch of reported bear sightings and I was sure that every sound I heard in the forest was going to be my last.

I know you love your sugary sugar bombs while riding. Have you ever tried a low carb high fat way to eat? I have been fat fueled for years and though I am not as fit or hardcore a rider as you I can do 4 or 5 hour rides without having to eat all the time. If I am going to be going hard in bursts I add in some carbs but mostly out I am running under 70% of max effort I run on fat and save the blood glucose for the hard bits. I wonder if other riders are doing this.

Yep, most of my normal diet is low carb, with more protein and fat. It's when I hit the trail I kind of reach for the goody snacks. Always looking to tweak things!
