I on the other hand was not as fortunate as you, I lost my big drak some years ago never to be found, back then there was only analog video, I was about 5km out in a very long canyon when I had a weird RX error shown in my OSD, no response to any stick input or switches, circled down until I hit the ground with the wings quite flat so there was a big chance the plane might have been fine buuut I forgot to press record on my fatshark so no gps coordinates 😅. Finally ended up buying another one later on, but haven't flown it in a while, I kinda want to switch to the mini drak now that I see your vids 🤣.

You stretched the limit of the radio range and flew behind the stone wall into the "radio shadow" ... sorry to see that after the beautiful flight ... hope you have been able to recover your plane, I guess else we would probably not have that amazing footage. Better luck next time and best regards to Olivier ... I always love your stunning flights in the mountains as well as in between the clouds. For my taste this type of RC flying that you are doing is really unbeatable in terms of pure visual joy for flight.

Super cool !!! What fw are you using on the FC? I am waiting for INAV 6.0 which will have RTH with trackback. I too have lost a drone because RTH makes the plane fly straight back to the starting point and there is always the risk that it will encounter an obstacle.

So you did manage to get it back, that’s amazing. Glad a hiker found it for you. Btw, do you have any gps telemetry that you could have used to find out exactly where it crashed? For instance, my crossfire link shows me the last transmitted gps position of my wings which is very helpful to find a plane lost far away. Although I can imagine it could’ve been rather dangerous to hike all the way up there with the snow everywhere. I didn’t know ardupilot even has a terrain follow function, though I suppose it makes sense. That’s pretty cool and undoubtedly gonna be very useful in the mountains with all those vast heights.
@y.decimal Жыл бұрын
@@loraerial Yeah I figured that might be the case. I live somewhere without mountains so I sometimes forget just how vast and dangerous they are, especially in winter when you can’t tell if the snow you’re walking on is safe or not. Good thing hikers are just that tiny bit insane and willing to take those risks, huge respect for that :)
