"See Ya Buddy" flies tied on barbless hooks, so even if they wriggle off the hook you can still say "See Ya Buddy!"

I fish the western slopes of the high Sierras and because of your tenkara addiction, I have started my addiction. I’m 80 years old and have migrated to east and west Carson’s out of Markleeville because it is a little easier navigating at my age. Thanks for your videos. One request would be maybe to show the flies you use more often. I am sure It would really improve my results….. haha. Keep up the great fun. Dick Hollister Cameron Park, California

One part of your videos I enjoy the most is those times when the light is just right for seeing the line tighten when a trout takes. Often before you have time to say "Fish On." I find seeing the takes before feeling them is a good way to improve hookups. What the line does can vary depending on how the fish has approached the fly. Always good to practice seeing the subtle ways the leader indicates a strike.

Ah, this is your second love affair with a 240cm rod - after the golden trout. It's such a perfect size for so many East Coast creeks and brooks. I just purchased the Headwaters, and it's become my go-to companion here in the Catskills. There's something special about fishing in close quarters, up close and personal. Glad you're appreciating it as well.

Watching these, I'm a little confused at what kind of fishing you do (dry fly, nyphming, etc.) from the flies you show, they almost look like dry flies, would love your feedback! I love the videos and it makes me want to get into tenkara!!

Many thanks for another excellent video! I have a Hakubai as well, but I have been using lighter line (a 2.5) and it still casts very nicely. Another lovely stream - I always love the cutthroat waters!

İ have been fishing brown trout in small creeks for 2 years with spinners in Turkey and about 1 year ago i met your channel and fell in love with tenkara. I got anything necessary ( rod, line flies etc ) but still couldn't manage to catch even one trout. How can be caught so many trouts. What is wrong that I am doing? is it about the creeks or my technique? I am really sad about it

Very unfortunate that Nissin has discontinued the Air Stage Hakubai rods. They no longer have any 240cm length seiryu rods. Their shortest now is 290cm.

This hakubai it's kindda cult rod like the kurenai. They are, technicaly, seiryu rods intended for using with natural bait in small water for smaller fish.

Can two hours of fishing get better than this? I don't think so--and in western Montana, no less. I'm not sure that the softer version of the Hakubai, or ever the stiffer one, is still available, but you certainly put the one you used to wonderful effect. Tenkarabum has very few rods for sale these days. I think he may have gotten sidetracked.
