That's just a young and inexperienced bear. Probably his first year away from his mother and still learning where to go for food and how to get it. He doesn't look injured or sick, just underweight. Not uncommon when cubs leave the mothers and go out on their own. They struggle with taking care of themselves for the first year....much like people.

Like most animals (humans included), bear are opportunistic feeders. So it pressed the situation to see if an opportunity was there or one would develop. It came to the conclusion that it was too risky to continue the pursuit. About the only chance for that meal was to wait and hope that the goats had no other exit. I imagine the nanny would have risked another exit though. She knew she was in a relatively safe place and probably had more patience than the bear. having tried mtn goat myself, I assume the bear had never tasted mtn goat before or it wouldn't have wasted it's time in the first place.

It wasn't scaring the bear, it was taunting it so it would make a mistake and fall off the cliff. If the bear was a human, it would've realized it could push debris downhill to offset the goats.
@travelingwithnature-sasi812 Жыл бұрын
@@f.foster2099 Thank you for the comments, usually my understanding is according to some of the forest rangers, the stomping not only for the warning, the vibration bring lot of goats to the sight, so most of the time even if it is a mountain lion or cougar retreat and hide from especially billy goats(male mountain goat)! Because they are pretty dangerous when they try to protect the kids(baby goats)! Believe it or not the horns or small rack is like a blade, it is very very sharp, they can rotate and heavily damage the opponent with 180 to 200 degree rotating power of there head. They are cliffhangers, so they can target and attack viciously any of those mammals or big birds like eagles with extraordinary balancing and controlling skills. Sometimes on those battles they end up with a bad fall too, but it is very rare.

Easy answer Blind Tube Mare! Because so much of the ever increasing population have no idea about the wild. Rather their idea is via Disney and groups humanizing wild animals to gain profit via donations. Look at our TV commercials....grizzly bears now live in condos, and talk about which toilet paper they're going to use! So many have no idea, and really would not like to see what that grizzly would do to that nanny or kid!! Most can't handle the reality and brutality of the wild. Alot of groups soliciting donations to protect grizzly bears don't use videos of boars ripping apart cubs!! People can't handle the truth!!

Goat stampin it's foot like "Get down here loser!" Jokes aside though that bear is definitely doesn't look well fed, and the fact that it's even thinking of going after that goat when it's at a very huge disadvantage just proves the point further.

I think it's a young bear that has recently separated from its mother and is still learning how to take care of itself independently. It's not uncommon for them to struggle a little bit in the first year away from the mother. The bear looks young. He doesn't look injured or incapacitated in any way, which would be the only reason he'd be thin if he was an adult bear. He's probably just inexperienced in finding the best feeding grounds.

I thought so too, but then realized it's spring - they come out of hibernation skinny. Combine that with what others have said about it's being young and inexperienced. . .

I remember years ago listening to a radio gardening show, and the host (Bruce Asakawa) was talking about a trip he took to South America and his walk through a thick jungle. I was expecting him to explain how, when left to themselves, the wild plants flourished in lush abundance. Instead he said that he was surprised to see that every single plant (and sometimes every single leaf!) had bites and nibbles taken from it, or other kinds of damage, from all the plant-eating insects & animals that lived there. Nature can be very tough...

why do bears look so dam innocent lol
@cincyfanjunglecity98715 жыл бұрын
Because it's nature and therefore it is innocent. They're only doing what they have to in order to survive . It's not like it's just a cold hearted murder lol it eats what it kills. What's not innocent are those hunters out there killing for sport.

What is interesting about this video is that we see the bear making a conscious decision, not to proceed based on a judgement call.which required analysis of the situation. THis shows a level of animal intelligence that goes way beyond mere instinct. I often think draft animals like horse, cattle, oxen, etc.work for humans because they can make these intellectual decisions, decisions based on judgement.
@buckbundy86425 жыл бұрын
It’s called “the instinct of self preservation” 🤷🏼♂️
@MrBillFold5 жыл бұрын
While yes that is true, lots of mammals are capable of this accomplishment. You smoking weed and watching KZbin videos? Kinda believe you are, with how much detail you went into over something so obvious.
@StevenTorrey5 жыл бұрын
@@MrBillFold What is worth commenting on is people can watch the animal make those conscious decisions as they unfold in real time; from watching animals, we don't often get to see this but only have a sense of their intellect as opposed to an animal's "instinct." A whole science is devoted to animal intellect that posits the "obvious".

The Goat says " catch us if you dare Mr. Bear" Amazing goat saving the baby by kicking the rocks and warning to the bear...
@travelingwithnature-sasi8125 жыл бұрын
It is a warning and in the same time the vibration of stomping bring heard of goats to the rescue, because there is almost 40-50 goats came out from no where. This is another reason for 2 years old grizzly retaliate from the sight.
