Good to see you and the boys back oot Robin....... It's been a while! I'm in the UK for 2 weeks as from Friday, cannae wait, gonna head up to the Highlands for couple of nights, down to the borders & see my folks and a couple of nights in the Cheviots, head to the Lakes and see what's what & finish-up around Edale & the Hope Valley. As there's nae hills where I live I've gotta do trips like this and cram-in as much as I can in a short space of time.... High Intensity Hiking/Wild Camping! ATB

Spectacular views! A walk I was meant to be doing a couple of years back, but had to cancel. The wee Vango looks great too - maybe a bit like the Vango Nevis, but smaller.

It’s a fine area, got 3 left to do in Ardgour too. Looking forward to Resipol. Think I prefer the Heddon, less fiddly to pitch. 🤔

Cheers Monty but wholeheartedly disagree about carrying a closed cell foam mat, you can’t fear pack for every eventuality, circa 150 nights and this is the first failed sleeping mat. Need to feedback to Flextail though. Hopefully it’s not a wider problem.

Loch Shiel Robin - now that's a grand view on the way to camp. Yeah, no need to push on with decent flat space such as that. Well, a reasonable tent - what the weight? I have to say my basic multi mat has never failed on me. Hood going. All the best. Mark

Great day for it and cracking views. That was The.Royal Scotsman. A private rail tour run by Belmond. Bit out of my budget. Id seen that tent on your insta and before that on Vangos website ages ago but it was never in stock. All recycled materials I believe. I like vangos but it was never available when i was in the mood to buy it and I think Im banned from buying a new tent. The flextail is similar to other cheaper mats so probably is leaking at the valve. Better off with the exped downmat but that is just my opinion. Anyhoo, highly enjoyable video. Thanks as always.

Is it the steam train replacement or another private rail tour all together? I’ve priced some of these tours and they’re extortionate, the tent was really good, I reckon it could handle a bit of weather too. It’s not one of their more popular tents though. Will definitely be sticking to my Exped mats in the future.

If you google Belmond Royal Scotsman you will see the same diesels on their website It is expensive and very formal according to YT vids Ive seen Dress for dinner and fulll of Americans in hired kilts. I do like travelling by train but that one dorsnt appeal to me. What does appeal is that tent. Waiting to see you review it, even though I probably wont buy it. Im actually reducing the number I have. Wish I could be like Kev and just jeep it at one.Gave my daughter a three man for car camping in Canada. She was the one who would never camp and is now hinting about backpacking😂 Nice to see a different brand on offer for review. YT was iverloaded bu a glut of Nortent Verns and it all got a bit tedious, especially as YT is my main entertainment at the mo.

Great tour and fantastic views Robin! Really like the look of the tent, but I do believe that you get more tent for money with a Lanshan 2. Have you been able to find the leak in the mat yet? Would be interesting to know if it is a puncture or the valve.

Cheers Stripey, it was great to finally get a wild camp in. What you say is correct, the Lanshan is better value on paper but the Vango is arguably better as it will last longer with stronger but heavier inner and flysheet. The mat is too big for my bath but I might dip the valve in to check it.

@@WalkWithWallace aye probably - only time can tell. Was laughing at the thought what for a bath you need to test the mattress - like one of those you can find in mansions 😂. You could alternatively try to use some washing up liquid and mix it with water, put it into a spray bottle and cover it in the garden. With a bit luck you can see some bubbles forming - is in my experience a patience game and still only a 50/50 chance 😏

I could probably dip the valve into the sink or bath. Had it inflated yesterday and couldn’t hear any air escape but could be a pin prick of a hole or as you suggest the valve.

@WalkWithWallace Six, of which five are on islands and the other is Knoydart. Made a bit of an arse of it tbh but will just pick off Grahams and Munros whilst I get the last six done. Moving house and getting a dug gets in the way of Corbett bagging, as you know! 😂

Cheers James, stunning Corbetts in and around this area, yet so quiet. 🤫 You know what, they all do the same thing but I just prefer the interface of Hiiker, OS Maps is a bit clunky and I was getting an error message when opening the app. ViewRanger was so good, bonkers they never kept that going and rebranded it .
