I could almost feel the cold mountain air searing my lungs😂👍 last time I was in those hills was in the 70’s picking up some peaks for my MLC! You could save a few quid and stay warm by just getting a 10mm foam mat, it can go under the tent, under the air mat or even on top, back in the 70’s it’s all we had and it was adequate sleeping on top of Cairngorm in February and in snow holes!! Thanks for all your hard work bringing us these fantastic videos, much appreciated 👍 regards from deepest Dorset.

Wonderful. I agree with you about the sleeve on that tent! A pain to get the pole in, and out. Not a big issue on a dry, warm, still day but a hassle when it's wet, flapping about and you're wearing thick gloves. A shame because other than that it's a great tent.

@@WalkWithWallace It's great for a really lightweight fastpack type camp. So small and light (less than 900g) yet decent porch size. I take a bit of spare pole to create a tarp style door (you can take 3 corner struts out to do this but spare pole sections is less faff) Very quick and easy to put up, pitches outer first or both inner and outer together. Easy to remove and attach inner. Relatively inexpensive around £300. Downside is it can be hard to get taught on uneven ground so inner and outer can end up touching causing condensation inside. Not particularly well ventilated so some condensation as with other single hoop, 1 door tents. Also very limited room inside but I'm only a short a**e so not too bothered by that!

I love that crunchy sound of snow underfoot too! A wee bit jealous of the fantastic snow conditions you have up there Robin, but there's still plenty of time here in the Lakes Lol! Good to see you back out buddy. Such a beautiful location! I had my first night out in the Scarp 1 last Thursday and must admit I loved it. The space inside is incredible however I did find settings up in the wind was a bit fiddly but I put that down to inexperience. We also had issues getting pegs in the ground but that was because we were camped in an old slat quarry. Great video as always. Lee 👍 #WildCamping
@WalkWithWallace2 жыл бұрын
Nice one mate, do you find that pole sleeve a faff too? The space is excellent though, which you need this time of year. 🏕
@blackmountainadventures2 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace yeah compared to the Akto. Trying to get the pole out when the tent was wet and lashing it down was also a problem BUT I have an idea… I’m thinking of trying to just use the small guy out points and feed the pole through them? Might work?
@WalkWithWallace2 жыл бұрын
@@blackmountainadventures funnily enough I used to have an Akto too. That might work in benign conditions. I think the trick is to make sure the tensioner straps are lossened off and only peg down one side very loosely and feed the pole through and straighten up any bunching up of material. 🤔
@blackmountainadventures2 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace I’m with you. I just need a bit more time up the mountains with it. The pole through the hoop tabs seems to work!

Why didn't you use an aluminium mat base layer for the tent Robin? Looked like a right chilly old night up there brr!! As always another good watch, tfs and atb for 2022. #WildCamping
@WalkWithWallace2 жыл бұрын
Valid point, I used to. I find them a bit slidey. Might buy the Highlander one as they're cheap and roll up fairly compact. Cheers and same to you for 2022. 🎉
@donnavansenior2 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace I cut a small square of that non-slip dashboard mesh you get from supermarkets/auto shops, about 5" square and that stops my mat moving on the foil. Lightweight, cheap, happy non-slidey solution lol ;)

@@donnavansenior ironically I've used IKEA Stopp for going under your rug. It's even lighter. Need to try that again slipping mats are a pain.

I used to do that, but when you're on a slope you're slipping about the place. Then you add not slip stuff. 🤔
