That isn't a "pack" of mountain lions. They are solitary creatures. So this is a mother with juvenile offspring. I'm glad to see that the mother has been successful in rearing so many cubs, despite living around humans. Now, if people can stop being stupid and leave them alone, the cats might have good lives.

Yes and no... A cougar will stay with her young for two years according to Idaho Fish and Game cougar specialists, and she doesn't have more than 3 in a litter, ever. Something very bad is going on for this to be happening...to speculate, radiation can cause oddities in animal activities as was learned from HARP experiments in Alaska. 5 G is also allegedly a culprit for odd animal activities/behavior. Wipe this pack out now, maybe do some brain studies on a few but do not let them roam free to eat children filling the sides of cute little smiling images who's picture did not need be displayed this way

You are mistaken about people not leaving these things alone. There are way to many cats in Colorado. 1,000 dogs get eaten out of fenced in yards every year here.

@jj4791 people don't seem to get it when they decide to live in the mountains. They send bait out to the yard and expect a fence to keep them safe. That's one of the stupid human parts I was referring to. If there is too many of anything, it would be people.

@@TheJustinJI hate that people don’t care enough about their dogs that they get killed, can’t blame the lion when it’s just roaming it’s territory. It’s humans that once again have encroached on wildlife then act surprised when something bad happens.

@@TheJustinJ That’s why I pack heat when out in the wilderness. I will protect my dogs and myself if there’s even a threat from a mountain lion or coyote. It’s not that I’m seeking them out, but encounters happen. There are plenty of videos and news stories of these encounters for this person to see that shows the danger. I think the person who made the comment must be someone who lives in a big city that has already decimated the native animals. Lucky them.

Mountain lions can breed year-round. Female mountain lions usually give birth every two years. Litters can range in size from one to six cubs. The young may stay with their mother for as long as 26 months, but usually separate after about 15 months. Source: National Wildlife Federation In regards to the pets... they are correct. If you should encounter one; Do not EVER run from a Mt. Lion! Think cat and mouse... your the mouse! In most cases, if the cat believes it's going to have to really work for a meal, it will normally back down. Confront it, make yourself look big with a jacket flared out, etc. Go Barbarian! ...Go Arly Ermey - Marine Drill Instructor on it or, be prepared to go Conan and Xena if you have to! Make noise! Like... "You wanna piece of ME! I'll eat you! Carry a good walking stick and have bear mace at a minimum if you can. This I post from personal experiences. I used to raise sheep although, I never went "Xena" or "Conan" on one... yet.

A lady in San Bernardino several years ago was jogging in her neighborhood and was attacked and killed by a mouintain lion. I do not think smug answers are warranted. We have had mountain lions on our property and have experienced no problems, but they are wild animalas and should always be considered to be predators.

The only living beings that mess the earth up, are us human beings, myself included..even tho my house was built 70 years ago, I too live in an area that crowded out wildlife ..That is some amazing footage! Go read the story about the child attacked by a mountain lion in San Mateo county…seriously, it was just a month or so ago….it’s on the internet….if you can write, I assume you can read too…then there are a bunch of KZbin videos show attacks….you got this! Just because it rarely attacks doesn’t it mean that it won’t. And what an insensitive and puerile comment to make if someone has had to face down a mountain lion. What would you say to them? “Sucks to be you but they rarely attack and you’re being a pansy trying to get media attention”….

No! They don’t need to “deal with it”! They need to be proactive and careful especially during dusk and dawn. All pets and children should be inside well before then. Don’t leave pet food out, and secure trash cans. These predators souls not be able to find easy food-it most often results in them being euthanized and that is NOT fair!

"not uncommon in Colorado but uncommon to see it..." But nobody seen it personally, it was caught on a camera in the middle of the night. So in this case it would be pretty normal... When people start to move in to areas populated by animals, the animals don't go far and eventually will start getting use to areas that have people, epecially if there are sources of food. Then people get surprised that nature is being, itself. It is pretty cool to see something like this. Just not surprising or "newsworthy" imo

They're hunting the coyotes that everybody wants to hug. Now they smell your domestic animals. Should have thought about what follows when they allowed the coyotes to squat in human habitat. What else is coming is the powerful spotted Jaguar that already lives in Arizona on an open (not contained/bariered) sanctuary. Soon enough state wildlife authority can retrieve our/our pets' bodies from the trees. Let's coexist with the spotted Jaguar living under our porches. Have you ever watched the videos of them snatching large dogs off their porches? Only unreasonable thinkers think that these things are unreasonable. People back in the day had more sense than people of today even if they didn't go about it 100% right. Coexisting has never been possible. If you allow them to kill then we have to be allowed to kill too. That's coexisting the way nature coexists. Nature allows balancing. If you truly want to coexist you have to understand all of its concepts. You're not the more intelligent human if what you think is like a guilty parent who doesn't discipline their spoiled child because they feel guilty that they took something away from them. Pretty soon they're on the news because their child killed someone. If you're the guardian of the animals then you need to reason with them according to their own reasoning. Demonstrate protecting your territory. Demonstrate not trespassing. Demonstrate equality even for the human. Use weapons and if you're an unarmed intelligent creature and don't have some make some get some use some. Demonstrate that sort of intelligence. Some humans lately think that they are nothing better than deer who don't respond when attacked they just let it happen and bleat a little. You want to truly coexist? You want to remain defenseless prey? Then stop complaining when you, your kids, your pets get eaten. Just accept it. Otherwise learn how to defend your territory and fight back. It won't kill them all off it'll only kill them off in your area just like they do to you when you're in their area. Certainly they demand to relocate leopards bears mountain lions wolves trespassing or threatening... start with the coyotes that they eat. Try not to be a stupid human. It's not a Disney movie. Throughout history humans have gone through great lengths for their generations to be spared and now we have people who want to coexist with these dangerous animals?! Too much civilization has warped their thinking. They try to pet animals in zoos through the fences and bars. They even climb over them the pet lion and bear or gorilla only to be attacked or killed. Now humans are a subspecies. They are mere prey. There is a clear bred out/lacking instinct in them to survive and protect their young. If man doesn't destroy himself he'll certainly let the animals do it.
@spiderhands
@spiderhands 6 ай бұрын
You make a good point except the Coyote part, you can't stop Coyotes, another one will always take the place of the one removed, always. There is zero choice but to coexist with Coyotes, trust me humans have tried to exterminate them many years ago with bounties, poisons, any way possible. (A lot of the desire to get rid of them was based on misinformation about their habits) Since most Wolves were killed off they were able to expand fairly easily into old Wolf territories. Wolves tolerate less Coyotes around than Lions will. Mountain lions usually aren't killing Coyotes to eat them, they tend to take out 1/4 of the Coyote population in their area for food competition reasons.

I guess we DO continue to learn about things on our own & lives of others rather than shutting down as lives go on & swallowing the narrative, period. I'll take being a pain the ass with a gazillion "WHY" questions than a regular person blind to the chaos & craziness of our everyday lives.
