I met Leslie in a deli near his house in Millwood NY back in the 90’s. I was working at a home near the deli and went in for lunch.I heard a “Wolfman Jack” sounding voice coming from the kitchen, and I knew in an instant it was him. He came out of the back, looked at me and knew that I knew who he was. I went up to the counter to pay for my sandwich and he yelled in a loud voice his lunch is on me! I guess because I didn’t make a fuss. Next day I went back in for lunch, and after ordering my sandwich Leslie comes in the door, shot me a look, I guess recognized me, and says the deli guy I’m not buying another one for this guy! And then winked at me and left! He truly was a down to earth man!

Felix Pappalardi was the driving force behind Mountain, plucking Leslie West from the Vagrants and building this band. Felix was a genius producer, having been the fourth member of Cream in that capacity. His bass lines with Mountain are pure magic and laid the foundation for Leslie to play his incredible lead lines. Unfortunately, Leslie didn't get along with Steve Knight, the keyboardist, so he was relegated to the background. Corky Laing was always amazing and is the last living member. Saw West, Bruce & Laing in concert and they bolted him drum kit to the stage. At the end of the show, they lifted without unbolting it, he had stripped the bolts during the show. So heavy. Listen to them live to get the full effect. Try Dream Sequence/Dreams of Milk & Honey from Flowers of Evil.

Now that was a cover that was widely talked about when it came out. If I recall they had to put a sleeve over the middle of the cover. I have the album but I got it through Record Club Of America. Does anyone remember that? You got 10 albums for 1 penny, yes I mean 1 cent. Remember TV Guide the insert was in almost every issue. We use to order every week. Thats why my album collection is enormous. You would stick your penny in the slot along with your 10 selections and wham your albums arrived in the mail. I think they went belly up LOL.

I see several possible things in that art cover, from a mountain with the person or people on top, a steer skull, volcano, & what was mentioned at the end although I don't think was intended, maybe though. On reaction videos, 100% time on movie reactions I've already seen & 99% time on music, because I'm just in the mood to listen to it & it's a bonus to get others reactions as well, but once in a while it also has led to finding other cool songs and bands, maybe 1 in a 1000, but the few times it happens I end up listening to the song a bunch of times, all the reactions I can find & other songs by that band. So it happens sometimes and is great when does.
