Unbelievable that you found this wash basin. I dont know if you can see something like this in other countries (I think there's no such thing), but you just saw how in these mountainous places in Greece do their laundry for thousands of years. This is known as "nerotrivi", "nero" in Greek means water and "trivi" means friction/rubbing. Regards

A beautiful part of Epirus which we visited last year during a 3 day stay in Ioannina, the owner of the cafe/restaurant you showed is a top bloke with a great business. All the stonework you see in the video was done by his father. Will definitely visit the next time we are in Greece.

The greek mountains for centuries had been the refuge of greeks in times of difficulty, famine and opression. Most of the villages were created in the dark ages of ottoman occupation from people who couldn't stand the brutality, the insults and the heavy taxes. Untill the 50's maybe 30%of the total population were living there but after these years many migrated to US, Germany and Athens. From families with 6-10 children no one or at best one remained..... During the last elections I was responsible for a voting center in a mountain village and there were only 100 enlisted, many of them not living there but in the nearby city. Only 22 permanent residents and most over 55 years. With the exception of some places of tourist interest the mountain villages will be deserted in the next 30 years. Such a pity.....

Greece is completely filled with mountain beauty though. This video is really lovely but this is just 1 beautiful video of Greece. What do I mean. Greece has 80% mountains and 20% of all of Europe's ultra peak mountains lies in Greece. Greece has 19 ultra peak mountains. In comparison. Switzerland has 8. Austria 12. Croatia 0. Spain 4 on the mainland and so on. So im not sure why some Greeks here are surprised. Out of many many more you can do the mount Olympus, Pindus mountains, Tzoumerka mountains, Tymfi mountain, Aoos gorge, Vikos gorge, Acheloos valley, Agrafa mountains, Parnassus mountain, mount Giona and mount Vardousia, Mount Tymfristos, Mount Athos. Rhodope mountains, Mount Taygetus and many other mountain ranges on the Peloponnese. Lefka ori in Crete and so much more
