In the good old days you could be approaching the crossing when the yellow light came on in the distance, slow down and watch the train pass and the gates go up gain, all without stopping. Now it's a two minute wait. Progress!

Wow. I never expected that crossing to be upgraded. I guess the AHB was too dangerous with the busy A2100 London Road. But then this new updated crossing will be closed for longer periods causing more congestion. Personally, I think that the AHB shouldn't have been upgraded.

+JamieTass ROBLOX I completely didn't think it would happen for at least another 10 years. Riverhall was upgraded too and that video should be uploaded by now. So unexpected, but most main road AHBs are going now as they are 'unsafe'. It didn't hold up traffic for too much longer though.

This ISN'T an MCB-OD (like you said), it is a CCTV controlled crossing. and I DON'T think there COMPLETELY finished (I.e they MIGHT add 'Keep Crossing Clear' signs).

What if someone is slowly walking across and he crossing activates? If there weren't any alarms then no pedestrians would know that the crossing is active if there were on the crossing.

You might say that but there is a possibility that there is a pedestrian that comes across there occasionally. It isn't just pedestrians that need loud alarms like this, it just depends on how busy the road is.

I find this upgrade worse. Because it will cause congestion and eventually be so bad.

Well at least people cannot weave around them when they are down. But I've never seen an MCB-OD Crossing in my county before. I wish Blakedown was redone later, if it was going to be refurbished from mid 2013 onwards it might have been transferred to an MCB-OD.
