Sir I believe most of us northerners realize that we are blessed and that we are grateful to have the best neighbors we could ask for. We all share the finest land on the planet and though we have a democratic right to vote, we both find ourselves governed by corrupt, self serving politicians. Complacency has settled into people and it now looks as though we are realizing what is at stake. If we could all link arms, hold our chests out and chins up we could face down the perpetrators. These truckers have lit a fuse and it has been felt worldwide. Who would have thought it could happen. Now the rest of us have a responsibility to take action and make a difference. It is well known that a general three day truckers strike would virtually shut everything down. Bare shelves, empty fuel tanks and political/corporate elite in full panic mode. This is not over. A second group ran a convoy into Quebec City today. History will not be kind to our wannabe tinpot dictator.

I am not whipped around by the antics of a Trump or a Biden or a Trudeau in an immediate sense, but rather think carefully through these matters from the ground-level up, and draw conclusions I know rest on terra firms, rather than nonsense. I absolutely could not agree with you more. We together have delivered, with those in Britain and others in the broader Anglosphere, with foundations rooted in the ideas of Magna Carta, etc., however imperfect our collective histories may be, the most successful societies ever known to the world. That said, what are we allowing to happen? You’re dead-right. In our complacency or denial or whatever else has caused all of us not to be vigilant about what we have toiled, sweated and died to create and preserve, as I see it now - we are in deep, deep trouble if we do not so as you advise: link arms and declare, “Enough!”. As a child, I lived through the 6O’s. Then the Cold War. I helped knock down the Wall. I have pieces of Checkpoint Charlie in my garage. I saw the Trade Center being built with my own eyes across the Hudson; worked in it as a young man, then saw it come down upon my friends. I could go on, but I’ve witnessed much and have thought deeply about it all. I am more nervous and more legitimately upset about our collective future and the futures of our children and all we hold dear than EVER before. These are seriously insidiously and overtly dangerous times, and if good and decent folks such as you and I don’t demand a course correction? The unthinkable may, indeed, become horribly reality to the devastation of ALL of us, and, for, that matter, the world. I’ll be honest. I do try to be. I’m both in awe, humbled and incredibly grateful. I don’t quite know how to say this, but I’m more than thrilled to follow Canada’s lead.
