Poilievre claims Trudeau is "losing control" with "screaming and hollering" while answering question

Speaking during question period on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre had a heated exchange about rising vehicle thefts in Canada.
“Auto theft has run rampant under this prime minister. He's now throwing a cape over his back, claiming that he's the hero on auto theft. But it's actually tripled in Toronto and it's up by 100 per cent in Montreal after he brought in catch and release and house arrest for car thieves,” Poilievre claimed.
In response, Trudeau said that his government’s solution to auto theft is to "Roll up our sleeves, pull together partners from across the country and get to solving it.” He also said Poilievre’s solution is to “Throw his hands up in the air. Blame a raft of political attacks on us and continue to see that he's not putting forward any real solutions.”
During the heated exchange, Poilievre remarked “Oh wow, is he ever losing control of himself? Oh, my goodness. Screaming and hollering like that.”

I mean sometimes it is the fault of predecessors and could take a leader in a democracy decades or even a lifetime to change those things. A dictator can work much faster. But I do agree that he should blame who or whatever is to blame for not rectifying the mistakes made in the past right now. It’s easy and simplistic to blame something on your predecessor. It reaches the voters easier. It’s all a theatre basically, overly simplified dialogue to play the voter.

Instead of always trying to blame the past why not do something about it? People tend to hang onto all the past and use blame to make a point......let it go, move forward and get off the high horse and make canada better, making it great will be a tough nut to crack considering the last 8 years!

What I would like to know is how many billions of dollars has Canada give to china under the right wing conservative secret FIPA deal, signed by Harper. The FIPA deal gives China control of a tribunal that decides how much money Canada must pay China for any loses in investment in Canada specifically the oil sands of Alberta. With all the pipeline delays and extra costs of the pipeline, what is the true cost of the FIPA deal? Combined costs of FIPA and the pipeline?

During the last Conservative government's time in office, it was the G8 Legacy Fund - $50 million used to spruce up a cabinet minister's riding, nominally for the purposes of celebrating the hosting of the G8 summit in 2010. The auditor general found that Parliament wasn't informed and no paper trail existed to explain how the projects were selected. The resulting controversy was big enough that even a young parliamentary secretary named Pierre Poilievre had to field questions about it. Given that experience, one might have expected Poilievre to be more guarded in his response to the Liberal government's ArriveCan troubles. Instead, the Conservative leader is committed to the idea that the ill-fated app - "ArriveScam," the Conservatives call it - is indicative of a profligate and incompetent government.

The funniest part is that the conservatives stood up for applause at the end of PP's statement, so the Liberals responded by doing it back, which meant Trudeau had to increase his volume to be heard over it. Which then just gave Polviere ammo to say that he was losing it and yelling. It's so slimy, yet kind of hilarious.

That's kind of what politics is in a democratic country. I'm from the US, and it's all theater here, too. The leaders that the people choose try their best to convince the others (and their own party) that they're the ones that deserve control. It IS theater, in a way. To be entirely honest, I'm a teacher, and a good chunk of that job is the same thing: keeping the audience engaged.

It definitely appears the 1% is at the top of Trudeau's mind if that is the first achievement he thinks about. He really is the party of the elites. Not sure exactly why a significant portion of the rest of the population would find a reason to vote for him...

I will add that I am not 100% convinced about Mr. Poilievre because every politician that is not in the place of power offers salvation. But Trudeau does not seem to have a practical solution for the issue of affordability in this country. He also has done numerous things to undermine trust in his decision-making at this point. It has been a hard road for any government, particularly through COVID, so I don’t think he deserves blame for everything. I do still think it is time for a change.

I wish the president of the United States had to face questioning like this on a regular basis. Once a week is a bit much but maybe 4 times a year.

Once a week is a great idea, but every day of having to face serious questioning from the public would put all the bureaucrats, politicians, and judges in the hot seat---which they both need and deserve.

Yes, I wish that too!!! Because the biggest thief in the country where I live, which is Brazil, the current president (Lula) was elected with the help of the Brazilian Supreme Court of Justice and the old traditional press. He was arrested, sentenced in three courts by more than 11 judges for corruption. And then, his judges friends at the Supreme Court released him, it's like a mafia. Until now the Brazilian people don't understand how he won this election, he can't go out on the street because mostly people cursed him.

I think you need to speak truth! The problem is the Judges your Ontario PC Premier hired and failed to act on. Have your Ontario Attorney General actually do their work! Take responsibility for all the damage Stephen and Andrew Sheer caused.

Trudeau was able to get the entire parliament to give a standing ovation to an actual Nazi war criminal, so it is no surprise at all that people are still clapping for him up there. Much easier to fool the people than to convince them that they have been fooled.
