"Saved you a little bit of trouble having to watch through that." Well, *that* is exactly what we came here to watch.

Exactly. Getting the last 8 to 10 inches of the bead over the rim is what separates the men from the boys.

Awesome, that was very detailed and also clever use of jack stands.

Video would have been just as useful if he had simply said take the old tire off and put a new one on. Not the go to channel if you want to actually see how something is done

That is a clever balancer that utilizes jack stands.

thumbed it. very organized and detailed vid. love to see him to do a spoked wheel with tube tho! any reason y you had to take old weights off b4 knowing if you even had to, ALSO, y not use the wheel's shaft as part of the stabilizer, does same thing? thanks!

Thanks. I've done spoked and tubed, slightly more challenging, probably not kid appropriate as I'd be swearing a lot :) It's unlikely that you would get lucky enough that the same weight would work, but you could certainly try it.

So do you break the bead on both sides? I can only break on 1 side...

Yes, you generally have to break it on both sides

good vid! Noticing the tread on the tire. Is it a Michelin 4 or 5? Plannning to get a set of the Michelin 5s and was wondering if you have any feedback on their wear and performance. thx

I’d like to have seen the way you got the last part of the tyre over the rim as that is the most awkward! Why did you skip that ? Such a shame….. otherwise a nice video. Also you never mentioned the very fundamental fact of keeping the tyre in the rim drop centre. That is so important.

Why cut from THE start of prying the tire on to ITS MAGICLY ON !!!???

I tried everything to get the tire on the rim. Just like that tire. I even used c clamps to keep the tire from popping out. But the problem is no matter how many videos I watched, everybody got the tire on easy, but mine refuses to go on at all. It is driving me crazy. I am at the last 3rd and yes, the other side of the tire is close to the inner part of the rim where it is deepest, but I cant get it pulled over for nothing and I am afraid of damaging the tire wall by pushing too hard, though I am already trying to pry hard. I am using the motion pro bars. The only difference is I am using the short ones and you are using the long ones it seems. I bought the short ones to keep these on my travels, but if they are useless for putting the tire on, then they are useless for traveling also. Sigh.. I mean is it just because I dont have a long enough bar for leverage? I am quite upset and bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow to finish the job. Even you skipped the hardest part of the installation :( Once I can buy a house I will build a workshop and tire equipment I have found to make the job easier so I dont have to spend a fortune on the dealer again. I dont get what I am doing wrong.

The big trick is that other side of the tire has to be in the center of the rim. That allows for enough clearance to get the tire over the rim in that last 3rd. If you think of it in terms in the distance, the tire can only stretch so far. If it's up over the rim bead seat it's too tight to get it over the top of the rim (the part you are working with). If the lower part of the tire (other side of it) is sitting in the center of the rim, then there is more room. Hope that makes sense.

You didn't align the dot ( lightest part of the tire) to the valve stem.
@therideproductions9872
@therideproductions9872 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the manufacturer actually, some mark lightest, some mark heaviest. You have to check to see what the mark relates to per manufacturer.

Ok guy. So that sure was quick getting the tire on the wheel. Is there a reason you edited out / fast forwarded the "fuck this shit!" part of the job? Funny how leaving this part out makes this job look so easy and enjoyable. Leaving this part and the tire popping onto the wheel out of the video is just wrong.

Part of the "art" of making a video and not having it be several hours. Some tires are more difficult than others. The rear tire took me longer than the front.

You failed to clean the rim-- always clean the rim. Also, you made no mention of lining up the dot with the valve stem. Lining up the dot with the valve stem reduces the weight you need to add and often if you align the dot with the valve stem the tire will already be balanced.
@therideproductions9872
@therideproductions9872 3 жыл бұрын
I did clean the rim, just not on camera. Also you need to check with each manufacturer for the tire, some mark the dot as the heavy spot, some mark it as the light spot. So whether or not you align to the valve stem depends on the manufacturer.
