Hi Nina! Again! You are a busy lady. You have a special gift, most of us see an ugly piece of discarded wood. You see colorful blooming orchids dancing on them! I can’t wait to see them in full bloom! Well done again! Have a wonderful Sunday ❤️

🌸🥷🏼BeBe San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 hello lovely lady!! I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼 ooohh... well.... shucks.... thank you 😊😘 this is going to be fun to watch develop and if keikis fail, they can be replaced. I am so glad to get this done 😂 even now I am thinking, that branch could have been larger in circumference, but I would need chains to create the hanger thingies ... mmmhhh, maybe for the next load of keikis in a couple of years 😂 what I would like to do as well, is find a large limestone rock for the corner of the patio, underneath Stan the Man, so that I can mount a cold hardy dendrobium on that. I have always wanted a speciosum for that spot, but it never manifested. Maybe something will come along and someone will help me get a rock situated there... its still something that I keep thinking about as I water Stan. You'd think I own this place the way I am decking it out 😂 thank you so much for watching, lovely 🌸🥷🏼BeBe San! I so appreciate you 🫶🏼 hope you are having a fabYOUlous weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

Hi Renate 😍💐 I hope all goes well and that I chose the right wood ... chances are, I have a toxic branch, as per Michael McCarthy, so, I hope I got the type of tree this branch came from, wrong, OR, that the species of tree is not toxic to any form of life that wants to grow on it 😣🤞🏼 time will tell. The idea and concept will look amazing, yes! I am now on the look out for an alternative, to do this regardless... I just don't have a plan B and I do not want to create another inorganic mount. However, push comes to shove, I may just need to 😫😅 it poured with rain last night, and this morning all the roots were nicely green. It was such a pretty sight! I hope that you are doing well, lovely lady! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸

@ I have to say you are much much neater than I with a glue gun😳 I was building a bog garden for the carnivorous plants, burned myself stuck myself to the pot, had glue threads everywhere looking like a giant spider had been at work. Hope you also have a wonderful week 💕🌺

🕸️🔫🙆🏼‍♀️🕸️🔫🙆🏼‍♀️ 🤣 must be my cheapo model performing, because, I have the hardest time to get the trigger to pull the silicon through the nozzle. Also, maybe the age of my silicon? 4 years at least, since the last time I used it 😆 😂 glad it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But.... bog gardens will attract spiders at one point, you are helping them to settle in by already providing them with a structure to get started with. Saves them a lot of time, energy and trouble. They just have to add their little finishing touches 😂 it was a nice weekend without the cold wind forcing itself into every nook and cranny of my bones. Now a storm is arriving and making itself known with strong winds 😑 I may be out of power on Tuesday. Vamos a ver! I hope that you are doing ok, staying warm and without any discomfort 😘❤️

😍Hi Helen💐 I love this concept and if all goes well, with the type of wood I chose, then having the aphyllum as a spiller one day, is going to be gorgeous! Looking forward to show success, as opposed to a mistake of having chosen a species of tree branch that is toxic to anything that tries to live on it 😣 perhaps I have one of those branches that, no matter what, nothing will do well on it. Time will tell. The idea though, is definitely worth replicating! Thank you so much for watching, Helen! All the way from beautiful Sydney 😍 I appreciate your time and support and wish you a wonderful evening 🫶🏼❤️🌸

This video is so timely!! Thank you! I have lots of Dendrobium keikis and mounts waiting for them (discarded tree branches, cork "plates" made from wine bottle corks, and my own home made baskets) but waiting for the Dendrobium "season" to be over - probably February? I was not too confident about using the tree branch. As luck would have it, I do have a bag of discarded stockings! (Which I was about to throw out - saved!). And would you please refrain from teasing me with your D.Aphyllum!! Or I will be forced to bring you to St Lucia - with a few D.Aphyllum keikis - where I have an Airbnb apartment *hint *hint! 😅😅. Thanks a lot again for your timely inspirations 💥🙏🙏💥

Hi Lyn 😍💐 the dendrobium season will last all year round depending on how many different varieties of dens you have but keiki season can be dealt with either late winter or late summer. So, here I am doing this mid winter 😜 I was just fed up with all the pots scattered around. I am in the process to clean the patio section by section, physical limitations make it impossible to do everything in one go. I also have a lot of media to sterilize, clean and store, which I want to do all in one session, so, bit by bit I am dealing with things to then only need to sweep. I am so glad that this video provided some inspiration for the stockings 🙌🏼 also, if you want to, when you go and mount your keikis, you can place a little moss between the stocking and the roots, so that there is a little more water retained to begin with. That stocking will degrade over a year or so (in your climate) but, seeing as you have high humidity, you may just be able to use the glue gun and remove the stocking. Depends on the angle you are going to have your keikis mounted. So much fun and I hope that you enjoy decking out your paradise with your keikis. 😊 I would find a way to bring Den aphyllum along, however, if something goes wrong ... can you bail an old lady out? 😆 orchid pirate smuggler would be something that would open my account as a felon 😂 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady! I hope you are having a wonderful day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

Knee hi...! I prefer ankle length!! 😂 But I did recommended to a friend that he used his partners old hose, knee highs as bags to hold chemical filtrants for his koi ponds. They work great and so much cheaper!! 😅 And the fish don't seem to care...😏 Fantastic tips there Nina, Orchid Ninja strikes again. 😉 For my air plants I use super glue, it also works for aquatic plants and decor. 👍🏻 Have a peaceful week Ms. Ninja....later 🐊 🪽🪽

This looks like a great way to save keikis! I’ve only tried it once on a phal dendrobium but wasn’t successful. I wasn’t too disappointed since I already have three divisions of the dendrobium. 😂

Hi Linda 😍💐 so good to see you! I hope that 2025 is already treating you right 🫶🏼 that is a vigorous den phal, for sure. It is nice to be able to have that kind of back up, so the loss isn't as detrimental. Perhaps another set of keikis will come your way and you can grow them on 👍🏼 thank you, so very much, for watching! Have a wonderful day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

One of my first keikis from the Hibiki is growing well with two new canes and roots. The other one isn't growing as well just because it was much smaller. I should have left that one or discard it. I was discussing mounting yesterday a local garden center after seeing tree trunks on the floor there. I always thought they would be nice for large cattleyas but moving it around would not be fun. I'm curious to see how they young Berry Odas will do 9n the mount. Michael's comment has me worried though.
@NinjaOrchids
@NinjaOrchids Күн бұрын
Hi Joe 😍💐 glad to hear that your Hibiki keikis are growing, even if one is a little slower out of the gates than the other. I would love to have more mounts around. Actually, I would prefer to mount many orchids on terracotta slabs and have them hanging around the facade of the patio, but there is no protection from the harsh sun for most of the year, so it is not possible, but yes, the moving of large mounts around will definitely be an issue and has to be taken into consideration, for sure! After reading Michael's comment, I am also curious and concerned! Meh 🙄😣 at least I have a head's up and we shall see what happens. IF I can find an alternative, it is not too late to switch them to that, but atm, I do not have one. I just thought, this branch is great, had the landscapers cut it down to the length I needed and was happy as Larry walking home with my branch. Vamos a ver 🤞🏼 I have more keikis in a pot, growing well, so it is not as if these are the only Berry Oda I have left. Thank you so much for watching, Joe! Have yourself a great start to the new week 🫶🏼❤️🌸

You know, with as much as Berry Oda keikis, it is amazing that anyone ever has to buy them, orchid people should have them coming out of their ears. My concern is the type of locust tree. A number of them are allelopathic, meaning they produce chemicals that are exuded by the leaves and bark which discourage other plants from growing in their vicinity. Those chemicals remain, even after the bark is dry, so if you see roots stopping growing and/or rapid leaf yellowing, that is the reason. (sidebar, black walnut has been used for centuries as a weed barrier because it is so toxic to other plants, literally nothing will grow where there is a layer of black walnut mulch)
@NinjaOrchids
@NinjaOrchids Күн бұрын
Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! I have them coming out of my ears... so, yes, you are right 😂 now you have me concerned about which locust tree it is that I got this branch from. I had no idea that there was an issue between different locust trees. So, I did a little google and well, I hope that it is not the black locust variety 🙄 if I remember correctly, what I notice from that row of trees, they are honey locusts, but... what I am going to do is take pics of the leaves and if there are any seedpods left to send you. However, I do not remember the trunks having thorn clusters in order to qualify as honey locust 😫 when I can walk again, I will take a gander and some images so that you can have a look see. It would still be soon enough to remove the keikis and figure out an alternative. Would be a pain in the derriere, but needs must, I guess. Also, if I do not find an alternative, then, thank you so much for the head's up 👍🏼 also, thank you for watching! Appreciate you in so many ways 🫶🏼 have a fabYOUlous day, my friend ❤️🌸
