Quill gears dont really have issues very often. 7000 machines tear them up when run out of oil. 4000 and 4100 its so rare I doubt I will have a busted one to show. In the years I been doing brake lathes Ive seen three broken. As of this time no replacement quill gears are available. Last one we did we had to put a used gear from doner machine.

Replacement quill gears are available from Ammco. I recently had to replace one in a 4000E that new electronic piece of junk that they got. The machine was 15 months old 3 months out of warranty Ammco wouldn't fix it. It takes the 4100 quill I didn't have any of those in stock so I went to my local Aamco guy and he got me one. It was a lot cheaper than what I thought it would be

See what I was talking about in your other video on noisy that gearbox is. I can't really work from the back of the machine like that I have to be in front of it leaned over it. When I try from the back everything is backwards to me cuz I'm so used to doing it from the front

Can I add the new style brass feed nut that you have in this vid to replace my old style shorter nut for more travel as a quick swap or is there more to worry about?
