Mounting The Sickle Mower & Test Drive - MF 50 Diesel & MF 32 Sickle Mower

Mounting our model 32 Massey Ferguson sickle mower on our MF 50 Diesel and then taking it for a test drive.

Years ago we used a sickle mower to clip the paddocks where our dairy cows grazed, a mid-mount Allis Chalmers on a WD45. The mid-mount was nice for clipping under the electric fences.

Those were very good mowers 🙂. Simpler and more reliable than the 41👍🏻

When I decided to start cuttin my own hay and lookin for equipment my uncle said "I got an old John Deere sickle mower down er in the pasture I bought at a sale... Gave 20 dollars for it..." I went and pulled it outta the dirt and worked on that thang for 6 months and he and other old farmers couldn't believe how fast i could cut in thick tall grass when I got it runnin... Used it for 8 years before I bought a haybine.... I wound up needin a part for it one time that wasn't the normal cuttin bar wearables that I had been buyin from Deere and Deere couldnt find it... I got to lookin it over really close and found an Eagle standin on the world stamped in the casting... Low and behold it was a Case and I had no idea till then that Case made Green implements at one time... Still got it...

I think my sickle is the 42. It’s just like yours but doesn’t have the 2nd tubing frame behind the main frame. I’ve used and owned several sickles but like the Massey the best. Less complicated to hook up then most other brands as well. Mowing with one is definitely an art! I really enjoy cutting with a sickle but sure wouldn’t want to rely on one for all my cutting 😆! Really enjoyed this!

Hi and thanks for the video. I just got my first tractor (Kioti nx4510). I need to mow a 45 degree bank and a drainage ditch. I'm thinking a sickle mower is what I need. I saw a used one for sale locally that looked like the one you have. Would any sickle mower fit any tractor? Thanks

Hello has the tractor and mower been your family since new? From using the sigh to horse drawn mower that sure changed alot of back backing work. Increased so much production, I've used a sigh see how it is, lots of work. I'm to lazy rather sit on a tractor. Crazy as to what is done today how much we can produce. Have a great day.
