Mounts Have Made OPR A Zergy Mess | Assassin Light Melee Troubles & Build (Spear/Rapier)

Did some OPRs the other night and came to the conclusion that mounts have ruined OPR and made it a zergy mess. Here's my take.

Personally a fan of Mounts in OPR. Pre Mounts it was a marathon of running back and forth to star/moon due to back cappers. Mounts brought more pvp action into the game mode and eliminated the cardio. If they implement anything, lengthen respawn time to 10 seconds.

@@KamoChameleon I see your point. I think lengthening spawn times could be more of a punishment rather than take away Mounts though. Potentially even increasing spawn times is you're polar opposite side of the map even. There are simple adjustments that can be made but that's the game as a whole. So many QoL changes could be implemented but for whatever is going on behind the scenes, it doesn't.

I've liked OPR with mounts a bit more. Less down time and easier to rotate to objectives. As a light melee assassin player, you can sometimes use mounts to gap close on a ranged player that isn't paying attention/with the zerg. I will say light melee does feel like one of the most difficult builds to play right now but the damage still feels rewarding.

i kinda like the mount in opr and im a light assassin ! You can get faster to the fights ! Or as a solo player split push, u can have fun building respawn at opposites sides to win some time get devils faster and keg the barones do some sort of speed run on how fast u can do some maccro stuff whithin the opr. Idk if its better than before it still is OPR one of the worst game mode ever created for pvp :D but ! its less boring

Mounts just sped up getting to Baron and to the forts. It's all relative, everyone has mounts. It's not like the some have mounts and some don't. It's not like Hvy. armor gets mounts and lt. armor doesn't.

Yeah but that' is my point. Everyone is now sped up getting to the forts and so it creates zergs/clumps at the forts.

This is kind of what I figured... everyone speaking out against mounts in OPR's have a solo, fringe, ganker playstyle. But, that's not really what OPR is for. OPR is specifically a game mode designed around capturing points. Sure the ganking and 1v1's or 1vX's are fun but that's definitely not the point of OPR.

I rarely use my mount. I use it on the first rush to mid then if I die and need to get to baron.

Been pretty good if you’re a bruiser. More healers too that are solo queuing and some IG/VGs. Been way way less 3 flag stomps and it’s been a case of better team wins rather than better PVE cheesers in my opinion. It’s better the game mode was zergy, it gets all classes involved over what we had. The only take is that there are no proper tools as light assassin but this is a ranged issue and the game being too forgiving when caught. Everyone has rapier/IG undoing any wrong doings which is cucking assassins, not mounts denying anti social back capping game play.

I think whether mounts are good or not does really depend on the class you're playing for sure. And I approve of anything that gets more bruiser comps into the map. What annoys me is five mans that run bows and light armor. That shit just shouldn't be allowed:)

I like the mounts, kinda the whole point of OPR, big clump fights, and mounts just make the big clump fights happen constantly cause you can get back into the fight that much faster,, also kinda nuts that you're facing that many firestaves when fs is at one of, if not the weakest it's ever been, empowered cap fireballs barely hit for like 2/3 of what CDG is hitting for rn, must be a server meta thing, with the mounts you can also go all the way around roads really fast and hit backlines from behind, you could try a shirking heals with ankh switch if survivability is the issue, but you should be able to delete at least one of the dumb road shooting fs users before you gotta start running lol

Firestaff is strong because you can now get your attacks of quicker which leads to big burst combos. I'm glad you like the mounts I guess its just a personal preference thing.

Because the travel time for heavies is now the same as it is for light melees to the point of interest which is inside the point, and in closed areas lights loose their combat advantage. So yeah, less is happening outside, more is happening inside, lights become less preferable which should have always been like that for this mode. Unfortunately I won't be able to check it out for another 6 month

@@KamoChameleon what's good is that there will be many new builds for melee light that are viable. Light melees that focus more on CC, support, survival (250 con, leeching/self heal perk focus) and block breaking for anti tank play. e.g. WH/GA is a menace for point play's

Yep zergPR, rangePR, sns spearPR. Light melee assassin is rough now. You get zerged on fast now. Try back capping and the zerg is there instantly. Hard to get those smaller fights now.

The biggest issue is that small fights lost meaning...you fight a tank with 500con for 5min, finally kill him and 10seconds later he is back, you still calling the point and just get tired. 😊

Yep. People don't like walking back for ages but that's what makes OPR good because everyone gets spread out a bit.

Mounts made it worse, but they activate them "to do like" they give us something new and cool to enjoy for the next 5 months.

Finally someone else is talking about the FIRESTAFF. is it me or this elemental aversion , gems don't work with FIRESTAFFS or fire damage in general?

It's because mages can fire of fire attacks faster now. So the dmg didn't need to increase because the time it takes to land a fireball, pillar of fire and light attack is now so reduced they all land at the same time creating big burst.

I think you should take damage from getting dismounted, people just fireball the mount and you get 3k damage

Yeah and maybe different mount types do different things. Horses = take more dmg, Lions = more dmg, Wolves = fast

100% OPR is worse with mounts, I hate being back capped 24/7, you wipe it. They are back there in 20secs, i feel i just chase people around all game, it's so bad.

Mounts are dog shit in OPR. Ruined the pacing of the entire game. Without mounts there was an unspoken coordination and natural flow of the game. It’s just chaotic now and unpredictable which makes being an assassin almost impossible.

opr has been dogwater for a longtime...only assassin and range no more frontline. boring fight for bruiser always solo and not much healing really bad matchmaking killed opr long time ago

Mounts are stupid, there are no meaningful fights now because you just get zerg stomped by near instant teleporting. If I backcap and kill a few they instantly teleport back you before you can cap plus the zerg just runs over you. You can't 1vX, kite around and fight them because someone will just mount you. It's so stupid. Who tf thought this was good. In fact, it has made pve worse because it's the only counter to reinforce and protect forts from the instazerg. Matches are starting to become pve dominated again, and by pvp players who don't want to just keep riding up and down between points. W...t...f anyone who likes it

Opr is trash and so is new world PvP. It doesn’t require a single ounce of skill because the engine is trash. Anyone who thinks they are “good pvpers “ has brainwashed themselves into believing it’s true.
