Have two right now. A feral cat won't stop trying to get them at night and my dog came to the rescue. Heard a crying little chirping sound and moved their nest closer to the patio and the parents are still caring for them =). Very easy birds to help or rescue. I can handle them and the parents return as devoted as ever. Mother bird will even sit in her nest and let me check on them lol. Got a new love for Doves.

You can tell if they are eating by feeling there Crawl on each side of the neck it's a sack on each side the will fill-up with any food that they eat so it's very easy to see and feel what all was eaten !!!! I raised lots of baby Doves and Pigeons......

Ive one at home. I was handfeeding her.. Shes three years old Very smart she recognises my voice and whenver she sees my kids she would fly over their head as saying I hate you kids

Sure are! Especially when they sleep. We just put our month old on our hands and he let's us take him anywhere. It's so cute since his little feet wrap around your finger as if it was a little tree branch. Any questions, I'll try to answer them.

Mine is about the same age currently and just starting to eat the little white seeds. I have been grinding a seed mix in with the Kaytee exact formula for 10 days now. I've seen where they use a shaker and they put their beaks in to eat seed like the crop milk. I'm trying that tomorrow

I wouldn't call this eating. Looks more like he's finally starting to peck, and is quite good at it. If you watch, he doesn't swallow a single seed. They all get spit back out. Picky little baby you have on your hands. Precious though.

She doesn’t eat by herself yet just take a look the seeds falling off the beak she is trying but nothing if you don’t look really well the dove will die of starvation that is why the bird is calling for the parents to feed her she is really hungry you can see people who don’t have any experience with babies animals can look for advice in the internet or call to any animal rescue groups or sanctuaries..

You have to watch closely. Mine is this size. She can only eat the really small seed and started pecking a week ago and flying a little yesterday. I've seen rehabbers grind up the seed. I've been grinding it fine and mixing with the Kaytee exact and let her drink still daily. She begs for that stuff. Today she drank some, stopped, and ate a truck load of the white millet seeds I think. The same seed grows on a lot next door they cleared for water runoff and we feed the birds. Found the little fella at the school. I know she aye bad for 18 hours

I am wondering the same thing. Rehan, how long did yours take? (Mine looks and sounds very similar to this one and I saw it PECKING at tiny seeds too, just like this one... but not actually eating either. Right now she only eats from my hands.)

I've been using Kaytee exact and let them slurp it using their beaks like a straw. If you can finely chop up seeds you can mix that in at about 10 days so they get used to some seed.

Yes mine eats everything Fruits Veggies (raw n cooked) Bread Rice cooked and uncooked Bt no seeds at all..

Nasrya_ 2015 how do u know they digest these food becoz google said they eat sunflower seed wheat corn etc plz tell me there r so many dove outside of my window n I don’t understand what to feed them I gave them cooked rice they didn’t eat

Not really. That's a fledgling. I found one thats about 3 weeks old and is just starting to eat seed. Her sibling died on the ground next to her before I found her. I've given her a chance and already have doves outside and feed the birds. I'm making her a dove house the next 3 days while I'm gets really cold at night then I'm soft releasing. She's flying better everyday and I make her fly around the house.
