This is a proud, kind & generous people who are in deep mourning. They have a deep & profound faith in 1 God (S.W.T.) the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) & the Holy Quran. Ashura is a day of reflection on the Martyrdom of Imam Hussein (R.A.) Imam Hasan (R.A.) & all the Muslim Brother's & Sister's who died for truth, justice & freedom. It culminates the Month of Muharram. The time when Prophet Moses (A.S.) leading the Israelites to the land of Goshen by the permission of Almighty God (S.W.T.) the Prophet & the Hebrews would fast & pray showing their devotional love & gratitude for Almighty God (S.W.T.) saving them from slavery in Egypt by Pharoah Ramsees the 2nd. The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, saw this tradition of the Hebrews of Yathrib (Madina) & found their practice inspirational & continued this spiritual tradition because of his own deep faith. Coming from a Sunni Theological background, I love & appreciate my Shia Brother's & Sister's. Keep your Deen strong. Live the way of reflection, love, searching for truth, being a good person & defending the Ummah. The same high moral values & integrity of Sadinah Muhammad (S.A.W.) Imam Hussein (R.A.) Imam Hasan (R.A.).
