Mouse on Mars - Against The Clock

Against the Clock is a series on FACT where we give an artist 10 minutes in the studio and see what they come up with. Past episodes have featured xxxy, Thefft, KiNK, Sam Binga (twice), Artifact, Addison Groove, Ziro, Huxley, Roska, Stay Positive and Exercise One.
Mouse on Mars have been releasing barmy electronic music since 1993, working with a wide range of labels that includes Ipecac, Thrill Jockey and, most recently, Monkeytown. In their 20 years as a group, they've built up one hell of a studio, which they put to full use taking up the Against the Clock challenge - manipulating and processing a banjo sample and adding synth, drums and a torrent of effects (some via the duo's own iPod app) until it's completely unrecognisable. You should've seen us watch them work, it was the living embodiment of O_O. Mouse on Mars' latest album, WretchDubbed, is out now.
