Im pretty excited about this! What if as a powerup or ability you can blow into your thumb to inflate your fist and when you punch an enemy youll send them flying across the room and when they hit the wall a "SPLAT" will appear or they can explode. Or if its a wall that can be knocked down then the outline of their body can be seen.

This was recommended to me on my steam discovery queue and I have never been so excited for an indie game, this concept is genius and looks amazingly executed so far. Will definitely pre-order when it goes on sale! If you haven’t already, you should add L.A. Noir type detective segments, I think that would totally fit with the noir aesthetic, and make for some fun and engaging gameplay. Also, am I the only one who gets a slight bioshock vibe with the UI/menus? (Not a criticism, I’m just interested to see if anyone else thinks the same)

Love this style and execution! Hope you give the cartoon enemies a wide variety of death animations, the disintegration into ash was a nice touch, just hope not every other attack including basic punches results in their heads being shot off

I like what I see for the most part. The art style isn't unique but it's a pleasant shift from what we're used to. The characters clash with the environment but that's something I'm sure will change as this comes closer to a full game. Likewise the combat doesn't seem impactful. It could be due to a lack of sound effects in the trailer but the shooting has a very weightless (for lack of a better term) look to it. Again, something I'm hopeful will change as the game develops. Definitely a good start. I'm hoping they craft good narrative, environments, and variety in enemies and weapons to make it something that truly stands out.

I think it’s important there some contrast (not light/dark contrast) between the sprites and environments so you can distinguish what from what. Especially if the game gets hectic.

I think to make the rubberhose cartoon artstyle look authentic, the scenery should be cell-shaded. The character models can still be 2D animated drawings, but if this if gonna take place in a 3D enviroment made to look 2D, you could use cell-shading. Also this is a video game; not a movie. Lots of video games use a cell-shaded artstyle, so It makes sense.

This is a perfect case study for any solo game dev. This game is 90% art and probably about 10% programming. If you plan your project well you don’t need to be the greatest coder in the world. This game is very very simple and you could probably code this in less than an hour, but with the animations and art style and just looks awesome! Very cool

Interesting, but bit of feedback: the idea of punching or hammering someone's head off using the same animation for headshots feels wrong. It could work, but the problem lies in how samey it is. Maybe a black eye or doing some cartoony gag would fit better.

I’m assuming its just a side effect of early development. With 2D animation you can’t make as much variety quickly. I would love to see a more violent version of when a cartoon character got hit with a blunt object and see a swollen eye and dent in their face
