Question: I have a 4-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred mare. We have completed the groundwork in the Fundamental Series and she's doing fairly well. I have noticed she wants to put everything in her mouth, including the halter, lead rope, and the stick and string. She will try to put these things in her mouth while we are doing the groundwork exercises and the desensitizing exercises. Even though the lead rope will be in her mouth, she does what I ask of her. What do you think about her mouthy behavior? Do you think it's something she will grow out of, or should I correct it? If so, how?
