As a New Yorker who has lived in the poconos (20 years) and easton (10 years), i can honestly say easton was the better choice.

Lets get real. Its 2023 and Easton has an alarming crime rate, including a rash of recent car jack jackings, drug arrests and shootings. Downtown is a congested mess of traffic and most definetely not a place you would want to visit after dark. Easton was recently named the third noisiest city in the country. Shops open and close constantly and many just sit vacant for years. There are only about 6 restaurants downtown and maybe 1 or 2 are worth trying. Don't buy into the short lived hype of a few years ago. Easton is getting scary. Comparing it to New York is a joke. This is a loud, crime infested city just across the river from another scary place, Phillipsburg NJ. Charming it is NOT.
@TaraRoyLovesRealEstate Жыл бұрын
Wowza. So, I guess you hate Easton then?! 🤣 There are over 25 restaurants downtown, crime is everywhere these days because our world is unruly, I visit downtown after dark all the time, I could go on and on, but I'm not here to convince you. I love Easton as do thousands & thousands of others. If you would like to get out of dodge, I have a cabin in the woods North of the city for sale!

Just as a sidenote, it’s a lot cheaper than the island, and it doesn’t get as dismal in the winter as the Island. If you’re out in Suffolk, near Riverhead, everything dies, and gets brown in the winter. We have a Lotta green left in our winters.

where are the best places to live in Easton? How far is it to take a train to the city? Are there any NJ transit train stops close to Easton?
@TaraRoyLovesRealEstate Жыл бұрын
There are several neighborhoods in Easton: South Easton, Downtown, the West Ward, College Hill and then several more in the greater Easton area like: Palmer, Williams Township, and Forks. You'd have to come for a visit and see them all to decide which you like best. There are no trains to NYC from PA, but there are commuter busses on the Transbridge line that go to Wall Street or Port Authority. During rush hour it takes about 2.15 - 2.30 min to commute because of traffic bit with no traffic you can get to the city in like 70 min. Hope this helps! Happy to answer any further questions.

Hi! Thanks so much! If you're thinking about Easton and like being close to restaurants and are looking for a building, The Governer Wolf building in downtown might be a good place to start. It's an old elementary school that was converted into rental apartments. @TaraRoyLovesRealEstate3 жыл бұрын
Hi Opal NY, from downtown Easton, Port Authority is a little under 75 miles away. It really depends on when you take the bus and how many stops it makes along the way. In my experience the shortest amount of time it has taken is an hour and a half (off peak) and the longest it has taken is about 2 hours & 45 min (during heavy traffic at rush hour). The nice thing about the bus is you can find a seat and take a nap! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I love visiting family but there really isn't anything to do there and yes--- people are weird, that's being polite. I could never live there again
